It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

Basically, you support compulsory education because there is currently no better alternative--this is like voting for either a douche, or a turd. :glittershitz:

This doesn't make sense.  Of course if there is no better alternative, you will take the best available.  Once a better one is available, then the current will be discarded and the best will be utilized.

I'll ask you what was asked above: since you believe the current system is so clearly flawed and that mandatory education is not necessary, what would YOU propose?

I already answered that question throughout this thread.

Did you? All I saw was "anything but the current one". That's not a legitimate answer.

I said that individual comprehensive educational planning is the best way to go; there isn't one solution for all.

Maybe the parents just aren't good parents?

that's not entirely true, and a lot of it depends on what state you live in.  buddy of mine's got a private hmo and has had it for *years*, he's been unemployed for a year now and while employed he wasn't exactly making 6-figures.  Or close.  I think more like 12-15 an hour, that neighborhood.  That's close to minimum wage in some states (not this one, but still).  And it's not as cheap as it could be for him, dude's got several health issues, takes daily painkillers, all that shit.

Some states have a lot of crap red tape that makes it harder or more expensive to get private health insurance, but it's often possible to pay a fair amount for good coverage.
