We do psychadelics because they exist.
Because someone said they were cool.
Because someone said they were mind expanding.
Because someone said they were euphoric.
Because we liked what they did the first time we tried them.
Because we want to try something new.
Because we want to have better sex.
Because we want to create some art.
Because we are addicted to them.
Because we think they will save us.
Because we worship them for these and other reasons.
Because altering our conciouseness is fun!
because maybe they do really expand our minds.
because someone just handed it to you.
because we were told they are bad, rebel!
because someone famous did them..
because you can mistake yourself for god.
because you realize You are God.
because you can gain insight into your psyche.
because it can open up your communication with others.
because it makes you feel good..
because you can delve into any subject and discover infinite simplistic reasons for the Why's about it..
uh..
and Even figure out your own reasons.

I don't know. Everything they `teach` you are things that you had already known before, but it was just either worded differently or perceived differently. If you can't figure out the "answers" to your problems [or life itself] by yourself, without drugs, then you need to re-think your psychedelic usage.

I do them to explore just how sensitive a brain really is.

Word, a widely spread and overly answerable question me-thinks..
OutThisLife, what you were saying, about how they teach us(remind us?) of what we already inherently knew.. and if we were unable to do that soberly, then.. rethink maybe not just our psychadelic usage, but our perspective on things in general...?
The first time I experienced my self dissolve, and unify and feel myself as others speaking and thinking, knowing beforehand what was to be said/done.. I thought I was God, the Christ incarnate.. that everything existed because I existed(this one self that is).. and I tell you it definetly had a profound feeling of familiarity, and dejavu, and knowingness.. but it was indeed An experience I had never had, nor remember previously having..
So i don't recall it showing me something I had already known, the way I knew it after experienceing the knowingness of it, while high on a specific psychadelic..
All those reminders, and familiarity, where completly knew in their feeling, is still being something I felt I knew already(which is something I don't recall feeling before, or knowing I would end up feeling..)
