How often should perlite be changed in out in my fruiting chamber?

Yea, I was wondering how long I should wait before I change it out?
Also, I bought a huge bag of perlite for 13 bucks. So, since it's so cheap should I trash when it's done?, or is there a worth while way to recycle it?

You can use it over and over if you want. Just wash it. It may be easier to toss out though. I would change my perlite after the shrooms are done flushing.

Bake it between grows to sterilize it!

You mean between each grow right? Or do you really mean between every flush?

You can use the same perlite for at least a year. And there's no reason to ever sterilize it. Changing or washing perlite between every grow is overkill.

I beg to differ cleaning out your perlite rising it is a good habit to get into every few months. Spores, Dust Ect... all could land on it over time better to be clean

Even when the perlite gets a little gross and is full of fallen verm & spores, it is still good to use. Fruiting chambers are not sterile environments.
I would replace verm after 1 year or 4 grows, whichever comes first.

When it gets dirty or after a contamination outbreak, rinse it first and then bake at 500F for a couple of hours. It will be as good as new. RR
