All of my jars are fully colonized exept for the bottoms where the substrate is a thick sludge. should I 1.wait until mycelium grows through this 2. flip my jars upside down and hope that takes some moisture out 3. remove cakes and cut bottoms off. Or something else. Im sure someone here has had the same problem.thanks

Please describe this thick sludge. If it is water you should flip the jars.

i would try flipping if it has a mud like consistency. even that may not help if there is no air in the substrate. i would just pop them out run water over them to remove the uncolonized portions, and then case em. you should make your substrate as dry as possible(while still allowing for healthy myc growth) for the colonization stage as the myc will grow much faster, then you can dunk before casing/birthing.

well it is pretty dense. I dont know what else to say. . the mycelium looks strange when it grows into it. the thing is if it werent for the bottmoms of the jars they would have been ready a week ago. I even noticed a pinhead inside the jar today.
