I tried earlier today to get ahold of 2 4" pvc things to go into my 4" holes in my glovebox so I could get a better seal. I was thinking aw no problem they'll have exactly what I need at lowes so I went to the plumbing section when some fucking old guy comes up and is like whatcha looking for boss? I'm like oh my dad just told me to get something I found it and I get 1 pipe that looked like it would work and was searching for another one. He's like is your dad a plumber or something I'm like no he's just working on something in the bathroom. He then questions me about my dads occupation what kind of residence I lived in and then told me to call my dad because "he's been a plumber longer than I've been alive and fixed more pipes than I've had hot meals" and that I couldn't be right in getting that size. So please, what exactly is the type of 4" pipe called that's used in gloveboxes (like it's a big pipe with a smaller pipe connected to it where I can clamp gloves on) and what is a legitimate reason I would need it for so they leave me alone?

4" pvc is generally for a toilet drain. A 4" coupler is a straight piece used to join 2 pieces of pvc. That might be what you're looking for.
Another option is to glue a can light ring to the outside with a black trashbag for your arms. Then you can take a quart jar, put it in the trash bag, wrap it up from inside the chamber with duct tape and cut the end open. You end up with a short flexible sleeve that you can put your hand into. Either bare handed, or rubber gloved. You could do the same thing w/o the can light ring, but it makes it look pretty.

You really don't have to justify your reasons for buying something to a store clerk. I would laugh at him if he told me to call my dad and gave me the inquisition over buying some pipe.

he probably thinks your making a potato cannon lol, we used to build them all the time out at the farm.. good times with propane man.. and steady is right, you really dont have to justify your reasoning behind a purchase, but i think that the clerk wanted you to have the right part for your dads 'plumbing'

I'm with ratdog! Those are toilet bowl seating flanges, LMFAO!
Their used to screw to the sub-floor when putting in a toilet. Then you screw the base down to them.
Great idea though!
