How do you raman?

The other day my GF and I spent about $300 in groceries... only to go back to the store the next day and spend $5 on enough raman to feed a frat house.

We love Raman as a quick little snack or small meal...

Let's get down to the questions

yeah they do have a lot of sodium and are pretty bad for you. But meh, I only have them now and then so I'm not too worries.

Plus they have a low sodium kind now.

you guys gotta try the spicy shrimp one.. its in a crome bag with the word MAMA on the box.  that shit is the best and will burn your ass on its way out.. YUM!

also i like adding hard boiled eggs with mine

18 cents per pack??  0.10 in NC.  hell, just 2 years ago you could find them on sale for as little as 0.08 per pack.

and the things to throw in section was hard for me to answer.  i ended up choosing the first, because more often than not if i'm eating ramen, i haven't got anything else to throw it.  but if i have say, a leftover chicken breast or some fresh veggies, i'll chop them up and throw them in.

better yet, i like to get cheap packs of egg noodles from the asian market, a little jar of veggie better than bullion and some fresh veggies to make my own, nearly just as cheap and 10X better veggie ramen substitute.

I do cook it sometimes if I have chicken breast and some sauces like cheap-o Asian garlic sauce from the grocery store. Good shit.

My new roommate just moved in and he's Asian and cooks so fucking well (I lived with him 2 years ago.) He also likes to cook a meal for everyone at least once a week.
So I will be eating REAL Ramen style shit all decked out. YUM.

For the chicken flavor I cook it up with turmeric, wide egg noodles, bok choi, cauliflower, broccoli, onion, whatever vegetables I have really, some mushrooms, any meat leftovers or a little frozen chicken, and some curry spice.
For the oriental and shrimp flavors I do wide egg noodles, cubed frozen fish (tilapia lately) and veggies but no turmeric or curry and I add soy sauce at the end.
I cook it up to exactly fit my favorite 1/4 gallon bowls cause I only eat one meal a day and I base snacks on what nutrients may have been lacking from that days ramen.
I dont worry about the sodium cause I live in the desert, in the summer I only worry about not Enough sodium :laugh:
The stuffs only bad for you if you fail to add real vegetables and meat. When people start going nutsadoo over the flu thing this year I'm buying a case of ramen and long shelf-life fresh veggies (like bok choi, kale, daikon, cauliflower, etc) so I can stay away from the stressed out soccer moms stabbing people over the last echinacea bottle in stores :wink:
