i am still new to the world of phycodeics but i am eager to learn, i have had a few desant trips with weed with a friend of mine (the same one i am discussing this with atm and which some quotes you can find on the best tripping quotes thead), and i also meditate on a regular basis so i gess you could say im not ignorent to the world around me.
i am mostly into what is now classed as hard rock so bands like motley crue, guns n roses and heavy meatal bands such as slipknot and mishine head, but as well as all of these i enjoy music streched from pink floyd to biggy smalls to elgar, so it is safe to say i like music.
we were discussing what type of music we should listen to on are first scroom trip, i agreed that we should do everything by the books,
but we disagreed when it came to heavy metal on shrooms he said that it will make the trip uncofterbale but apparently there is no such thing as a bad trip on shrooms its just how you perseve it how can this be if things like heavy meatal makes it uncofitable?
he said to ask the shroomery to explain as you would better then him, i thought it would be an idea as heavy meatal is a very primal type of music so i figured it would react in a differnt way on shrooms

I'd say find some music that is going to expel positive vibes yet keep the brain tingly and active.
RX Bandits does this very well.

as long as the music gives both of you good vibes....then listen to it.... otherwise find something mellow,.... or psychedelic.....you mentioned you like floyd,, you cant go wrong there

There are exceptions, but...
I would strongly suggest listening to any music with smooth melodies and no lyrics. At the very least, plan to have some music like that just in case slipknot and guns n roses don't pan out.

for my first trip i dont plan to listen to anything remotly hard rock as i said im doin it by the book my m8 has been reserching it for amlmost 2 yrs now so im going to do as he sees fit, i compleatly trust his jugement and him
but i was just curuious to kno why things like heavy meatal wouldnt be good as shrooms i think create a very primal feeling inside of us.
forinstnece with the shroom flesh of the gods it has a very primal sceriomy behind it to add to the affect

I agree with you, not your friend: it totally does matter what you listen to, but there are no rules. This is a cliche, but true- whatever you want to listen to is right for you. You will be able to tell at the time what this is, of course. You will know at the time that you take them.
Personally, I find mushrooms do actually magically make me into a perfect disgraceful hippie. I can sorta see your friend's idea that heavy metal would not be fitting. Just to give you an idea on how much of a hippie shrooms make me turn into: I deeply appreciate water- I can feel it entering my body and nourishing me, and it tastes so delicious and life giving that I thank the cup profoundly for giving me said beautiful drink.
As a matter of fact, shrooms make me into so much of a hippie that I don't wanna listen to recorded music at all- I can tell that it's "fake".

Agree with the rest of the posters.
Look into some ambient nature sounds.... I have a native american flute music with natural background sounds CD..... totally positive mood setter.
Shpongle = very popular electronic psychedelic music. look it up on youtube.
Soft melodies, less lyrics.
Maybe pick out one rock song you -would- like to listen to while under the influence, get your friend to agree, and then play it and see what you think, AND what your friend thinks.... You might enjoy it a lot, but if he doesnt like it as much, then it is best to pick something less volotile.
You have already mentioned your wide diversity of musical taste.... SO it is your friends "set" we are going to worry about more as far as music selection goes.

i was thinkin of lisening to the rock ballet home sweet home by motley crue as i cant help but smile whenever i hear this song i personly beleve it is a master peace and it flows very well thoughout as the guitarest of motleycrue is very very very hevily jazzed bassed

I personally recommend any Progressive music....like early genesis, emerson lake & Palmer, Camel, King Crimson or Rush
but def. throw in a little floyd...
