Mycelium colonized contaminate. Throw away or keep?

I have some quart jars that were colonizing pretty well, about 80%. Then i noticed about 8 jars had uncolonized grains witha dark green/light black film on them. Some kind of mold and it looked powdery.
So I left the jars in the drawer for another week cause i didnt feel like dealing with it. When I went back to dump them and clean them they were fully colonized! However, there was a yellowish liquid gathered around the spots that showed mold previously.
I'm wondering if it might be ok to use those jars still, or if i should dump them. Seems like a waste if i dump them but i'd rather not spawn them if it might pose a hazard down the road. The strain is burmese multi-spore. The grain is wbs. Any suggestions?

If you have the option of doing an experiment maybe you can try an outdoor grow with them?

I might try to grow them out. It might be a waste of time but I'm pretty confident in my FAE. If it colonized the substrate I think I wouldnt have a problem fruiting. Havent had a problem in quite some time during fruiting.
I'm wondering if anyone might know of a success story beating contams. It would boost my confidence knowing somebody has already done it before i try to.

Absolutely. Had 3 jars of costa rica that got trich. Flipped em upside down and left em. They swallowed up the trich and colonized completely. They fruited just fine.
However...
When they got dunked after the first flush they contamned. He cut the cake open to have a look and the trich was still there on the inside from before. I'm guessing that the myc is able to encase the trich spores, but not destroy them. So when it weakens they come back. But a whole flush was worth it. No other cakes in the fc came down with it because he noticed something odd about them right away after the dunk.
even if u do throw it away, cut it open and have a look.

not a wast of time. i like to grow things not just get hi. i have put in a bag away from others just to watch it fight with the contams.

I dont know if what I had was trich. Unless trich comes in different shades of green. This seemed darker than what I recall trich to be. But who knows. And it's grain, not cakes so I'm assuming theres nothing hiding in the middle.
I'm going to go ahead and dump the jars into a huge tub per my method and see what bhappens. I'm feeling good about this experiment

Hrm... grey mold? mycotoxins? Wonder if it'd be safe to eat the fruit.

Mycotoxins? I dont think the fruits would be harmful unless the fruits themselves were moldy.

I'm just really wary of grey mold cuz i hear its particularly poisonous. No idea if the toxins could be absorbed by the fruit. I would eat trich on a piece of bread without a second glance.
If its green, even if its dark green, it's probably trich. I haven't heard of any other mold being green.

This jar has the full on contam. This is the same contam I saw in the jars that are now colonized. You can see in the yellowish water in the colonized jars. All that light wispy mycelium use to be moldy grain.

Is this trich? If not what could it be?

Looks like trich and grey mold to me....er wait...thats the myc itself...looks grey in that light.
That green is trich for sure.

I just read a post of RR's that said its ok to use jars containing metabolites to spawn to bulk. He did warn against using those same jars for G2G transfers. Im going to go with the pro's advice and spawn those bad boys to bulk. RR is the shit!

Metabolites are NOT green. Green mold is NOT dangerous. I would spawn them to an outdoor patch. Cover them with soaked cardboard. Wet the cardboard down when the top layer is looking dry. See what happens. Any fruits will be safe to use.

Brand Newbie- I meant the yellow metabolites in the colonized jars. Not the green moldy one. That one goes in the garbage. And I'm aware green mold is everywhere, even on some things we eat. I meant using the colonized jars that defeated the contam and left behind yellow metabolites. Those are going to be put to good use

Oh, my bad. Yeah metabolites will not hurt you as long as they are at a reasonable level. They are a sign of contamination though.
Sounds like you have it going okay.

We shall see. If the sub colonizes without fault I'll be good for at least one flush. Once I introduce to fae contams dont have a chance.

to me that yellow liquid sounds like myc metabolites. if it is, it would be fine to grow. do you have any pics of this?
