50/50 Hardwood Pellet and Corn

Hey all,
I just got a 40 pound bag of this stuff from a local Specialty store. I was wondering if I need to add anything to the mix or if I can just hydrate and PC.
The corn is full, not cracked. I was planning on doing Shitake from LC and most likely some Agrocybe Agerita.
Thanks for the help-

What exactly is this material? Pellet fuel or chicken feed? More specifics would be helpful.

I believe it is pellet fuel, they feed hardwood to chickens?
Yep it is. Bag says 8,000 BTU and an Ash content of .8%.
It is Eagle Bio Fuels "America's Green Heat". Brand--

Some dipweed had the idea years ago to manufacture stoves that burn corn. Later came the pellet stove. Maybe this is a corn and hardwood fuel combo, but I don't think the hardwood would nourish chickens.
At least that's not what we feed ours.
Good growing,

Whoa, I checked the manufacturer's web site, and it's actually fucking corn!! Aren't people starving in the world? We have so much excess that we burn it? Don't get me started on how what you're actually burning there is oil. You'd be better off burning the oil than burning the corn!
Whew. Alright. Corn is high in nitrogen. You'd need to sterilize the medium and observe clean techniques when working with this stuff. Otherwise I think it's fine.

It's worse than you think.
The price of corn, a staple in third world countries and Mexico has gone up like crazy because the USDA is subsidizing corn production to make methanol to put in gasoline. The huge subsidies make it more profitable to grow corn for fuel alcohol than food.
This will supposedly help the US become more fuel self-sufficient.
It seems likely that this kind of use will also attract a subsidy, since the person burning it COULD be burning oil instead.

Okay, my issue with that is that it costs more oil energy to produce the corn than the ethanol energy generated by the corn. That, and the whole subsidy thing, which only serves to drive the prices down even more and encourages destructive farming practices. Farmers are planting corn fence row to fence row these days, even skipping soybean rotation in order to produce more. Hasn't anyone seen pictures of what the central US looked like during the Dust Bowl?
I don't think I have too much room to complain here, really. I use corn gluten meal as a nitrogen supplement in many of my grows, and it makes a great time release "organic" weed-and-feed for the lawn.

Well, I am PC the first of the 8 bags right now. 4 are in and I mixed em up with about half Oak chainsaw shavings. Supplemented with Gypsum, and just a bit of Wheat bran.
I think I will inoculate them all with my Shiitake LC. This will be my first Shiitake grow.
Man, Cubies are ssssoooooo much easier! The edibles are nice though. No paranoia involved.
