How to store inoculated jars in a contam rich area? (First Growth)

Hello, I've just inoculated my first 12 PF Tek jars and I have a question about storing them for incubation. I've read a lot on it but the answers seem to differ and left me a bit confused.
My situation is like this, I live near the jungle/rainforest in Ecuador and in our area and house there is a very high humidity, so mold is a big danger here. After steam-sterilizing the jars, I inoculated them in a glovebox, after which I replaced the tinfoil immediately on top of them (for added contam protection, to the dry verm layer). Than I placed them in a desinfected plastic container, closed the lid and wrapped a dark plastic bag around it (for darkness and protection against airborne contams flying through the house).
My question is if this is okay, regarding the special situation (contam rich area) or is it too much? I read that it is okay to just place them on a shelf, even without the tinfoil, but I don't think this is a good idea in my case.
I don't want to ruin my first growth through "overprotection", so any advice is well appreciated!
Thanks in advance guys, this forum already has helped me a lot! Cheers Olli

If you didn't pressure cook them, you could have problems, but just spray some lysol or another disinfectant around very liberally. You can pull it off if you are very sterile in everything you do.

Cool. So does this mean it is okay to store them like I did, tinfoil on top in a closed plastic-container wrapped in a plastic bag? I was a bit worried cause I read that there might be a problem because of too less gas exchange happening in a setup like this.
Thanks again.

your verm berrior is good but you can still leave em in the box for peace of mind, the bag isnt needed. foil can trap moisture between itself and the lids harboring contams. the box will do for an extra barrier.

ummm, NO.
no FAE when colonizing jars. thats only for fruiting.
the holes in your jars are to let gas out not fae in dont fan your box.
I hope you were joking HaRo On KoRn.

Get the foil off. That will tend to make the dry verm filter damp, and damp vermiculite will allow mold to colonize right through it. Put them on an open shelf. A sealed box can cause the same problems as having foil on the lid. You want air circulating around the jars to dissipate the gasses and also to keep the verm filter dry.
Nobody lives in a moldier area than I did in Seattle. My entire condo building was one big mass of moldy, rotting 40 year old wood. That's where I learned a lot of the techniques I suggest, because they were the ones that worked.
You don't need to colonize your jars in darkness either. Set them on a bookshelf and let them do their thing. RR

ok in a sealed box when i said give it fae once a month was to GE the box witch cant get no fresh air so there for if you didnt do a quick fan once in a while it would eventually be like not having any holes
does that make sense
am i right?

when i inoculate i put the jars in the box they came in and then place that in a trash bag and loosely seal it, i check the jars once a week and eliminate contaminated jars. use a glovebox.

all kinds...
look up "circadian rhythms" My jars are on the same light cycle as my tubs from inoculation to spawning, then colonizing to fruiting.

the lil jar is a 200ml - 1/2pint honey LC I made of South Americans. I 4got to put a filter on it b4 I PCd so I just went ahead and left the foil to keep airborn stuff from settling in my LC. I use organic rye berries (favorite) and WBS it just depends on my money supply @ the time I need more grain.

No experience with rye either but I have used both wbs and popcorn. When I used popcorn I was still working without a pressure cooker and as you should expect, my jars got contaminated. If PC'd it should be fine. If you're making cakes and fruiting from them I would stay with BRF. If you're going for spawn I would try WBS (Rye would probably be just as good, I just have no experience using it). WBS is super easy to make spawn with and where the seeds are so small it creates many points of inoculation. I know a lot of people suggest simmering WBS but I have seen no need for this. I just soak overnight, usually giving it at least 14-16 hours. I then drain it for a half hour or so, fill spawn bags, and PC. So far I've had great success preparing it this way.

Thanks a lot RR!!
That's exactly what I needed to know.
One last question though: I inoculated the jars through the holes which were covered with mikropore-tape. The tape is still on the jars (with the holes in them). Should I remove the tape completely, just let it on there or maybe put new tape on, so the holes are covered? I read loads of different opinions on this one too...
All the best O.

you know what with popcorn i lost 2 jars overall, tried wbs lost em all to worms and grass growth ( weird huh ) now RR's coffee rye tek and have a 33% success rate, sure popcorn isnt popular cause it has less spawn points when you turn to bulk but god do they move fast cause of less surface area for your mycelium to cover, doesnt smell, 45 mins in pc with a 30 minute low simmer, hey i didnt even have tyvek at that time all i used was one coffee filter and loose piece of foil. And the way i see it, less time for mycelium to overtake the corn, less time for competitors to take over like mold, on rye lost jars cause mold moved faster than the spores did.
but im done with that now, unfortunatley too busy in the near future, but i do still love coming onto this site though. oh yeah popcorn spawns to straw like crazy and works very well with cow composte/verm in oven pasteurization tek.
