Hi.. so we started out with 5 cakes, which out of those 5, 2 of them looked healthy enough to birth, and 1 of them we were unsure of..
so this is the one with the "mold" we were un sure of.. the color isnt different from the vermiculite in the part that isnt white

and then.. this is a picture of the 2 we have in the terrerium.. it may be hard to tell, they have tiny yellow specs that just started showing on one of them.. and a slight discolor on the other
also they have like white dots the size of a pin that grew as well.. this is probly not normal, but we are no experts!

thanks for your help

Very difficult to tell anything based on the quality of the pics unfortunately.
What I do see, shotgun FC with holes that are way to small, cake directly on perlite which can cause water logging and possible molding, and your cakes are not rolled which makes me assumed not dunked either which could be trouble for cakes in a shotgun FC although since your holes are so small maybe an ok trade off. Also probably should not have cakes touching each other in case one becomes contaminated you can hopefully remove it before you lose others.

Those pins could potentially be the early stages of a fruit body (mushroom).
Need better pics though.
How do the cakes smell? Like earthy/mushroomy or fermentation/rotten/spoiled?

In the first pic, your jar is upside down. I hope that was for the picture, because you should always keep the dry verm layer on top. You should also remove the aluminum foil after pressure cooking/steaming.

Dahillia, I'm not trying to be critical but I think you just need to do more research into the hobby you are undertaking. This is not a hobby to be rushed, instead patiently and respectfully.
Good luck. Just read more
