stem tissue to grain
    #10985810 - 09/02/09 11:01 AM (15 years, 4 months ago)

A couple weeks ago I knocked up 6 WBS jars. 5 of the 6 colonized fine and where mixed with substrate. The one jar did not colonize at all. I decided that I would pull a small piece of tissue off of a stem, of one of the larger mushrooms. I just looked at the jar today and it appears that the tissue has attached itself to the grain that is around it. It looks like healthy mycelium, but it looks like it is growing very slowly. Is this mycelium or a contam, and will it colonize the whole jar?

The top bit in the photo is what has grown, the rest is the original stem.

Pic. Probably myc. Let it get going, then when you get a good big patch, shake it around to distribute it.

Well it is taking a long time, so i just took all the small pins from my last cakes that I kept and threw them in too. Very unclean, but we will see what happens haha.

Ouch, there is NO way that will work without any contams. You were fine the way you were, but I think it is a lost cause now. Patience, patience, patience. You aren't going to force it to grow faster, you just gotta wait.
