    #10978778 - 09/01/09 11:11 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Hi,

I've been growing peyotle et san pedro from seedlings since 2007.

Here are some pics to show you a part of my indoor cacti garden :

Lophophoras fricii

Some Lophophora williamsii

This one, had some flowers 2 months ago and he's flowering again !

Other Lopho recently grafted. The one on the right is a single graft which splited in two.

My two first grafts, done one and a half year ago.

Those Piloso stocks look a little dehydrated IMO.

May want to up the water to them.

How much did the 2x55 set you back?

I'm in the market for grow lights, and need to see what's best and cheapest on my measly college student salary

The Pilos have always been looking dried. The Lophophoras on top are drinking all the water, they are full like watermelon. More water would crack them.

For the light, the DEL's are very expensive (more than 150€) but very efficient. The 2x55W are the best I've found so far. No too expensive(70€), very efficient and wide (what i like because you can put many little plants under and they will all be receiving the same amount of light.

You can either use trichocereus, stenocereus, or harrisia as permanent stock for them.

They tend to be thick enough to support the weight of old lophophora and tend to have good longevity.

These look like they're on Pilosocereus, which works, but tends to not works as well as some of the other permanent stocks so I hear.

Oh sorry

They're faster growing, when you connect the vascular tissue of the two the growth rate of the stock transfers to the scion (peyote)

Grafted*

And I don't know about 3x faster, but it would definitely speed up.

If you're considering doing this, make sure you do your research and have multiple stocks and scions to work with.

It is a skill that usually can take a few tries to get the hang of.

As you ca see they are grafted on pilocereus azureus. All the peyote (grafted or not) are the same age (2 years old). Some have been grafted very young so they are much larger than others and some have been grafted just a few months ago.
All the grafted peyote are growing much faster !!!!

yes, my first 2-3 attempts failed  education would have helped, but u learn from experience  :peyotespectrum:
my second was lost cause the pedro stock was too big and cut too short so the core was too woody for grafting, at the time i didnt know about that factor  or maybe the vascular rings didnt overlap, or both

Yeah, I just havent done any grafts to big stock to have the knowledge to say whether they will or won't go at that rate.

Lack of scions atm or else I'd be grafting like mad :yesnod:

Hopefully in a year or two i'll be set on the big grafts
