For those of us who do not live in the PNW but "MIGHT" be traveling there, enlighten us as to just when "right around corner" might be.

well, next week was supposed to hold a couple days of good rain when last i checked. once that starts happening a couple times per week, there will be about 2-3 weeks till fruitings start.

oh ok lol i am planning on taking 2 grams of cyans for my next time (20 wet grams)/10= 2.0, but if i cannot find a gram scale in time you think the old fashion 12 inch ruler or something balanced in the center and cyans on one side and piles of coins (which i can find out the set weight for) on other side would do the trick accuratly?

if you can make a simple and reliable balance scale, a current us dime weighs about 2.27g.

i made my last balance scale from two soda bottle lids and wire from a clothing hanger. i used to use it and coins to weigh my agar

i've never taken an average. a mature specimen, dried, could easily range from 1/4 to over 2g.

this one [friscosa] was pretty good sized:

it would probably dry out around 1.5g, but i didn't weigh it, so it's hard to say. it should also be noted that the friscosa seem to be considerably less dense than P. cyanescens proper.

i should also point out that if you want the most bang per cyan, you should eat them fresh when possible, and store them properly once dried.

Do they tend to fruit all at once and then taper off or are they continuous and for how long usually?

Wiki says "Psilocybe cyanescens grows primarily on wood chips - especially in and along the perimeter of mulched plant beds in urban areas. Its native habitat is coastal dune grasses."  Is there anything to this coastal dune grass thing?  Do you just hunt in urban areas?  (makes me a little nervous scouring mulched areas in densely populated areas.
