Are bad trips beautiful? Do they transform you into a better person through spiritual and/or recreational means? I have to disagree strongly.

If you are grieving over a loved one's death, what is your reasoning for taking such a powerful substance (psilocybin)? If your trying to use mushrooms as a tool to help you overcome grief, that's probably not the best idea. I can't imagine going up to a friend and telling them "I'm using shrooms to overcome grief."

However, I mainly speak for myself and the average human being, which makes you special. In no way am I putting you down for taking shrooms. I just don't enjoy reading about someones who has cried on shrooms, when it could have been prevented. A bad trip can take a toll on not only your experience(s) with mushrooms but also your own reality.  However, I have experienced one bad trip in which I believed for an hour the whole world was crashing down on me. I was sobbing and looked at myself in the mirror and asked myself what the fuck are you doing on mushrooms. The reasoning for that is, I was at a point my life, where I stood alone and depressed. Good Luck.

I heard ayahuasca sessions are directed to tear a person down inducing vomiting and tears to drive the negativity out of ones body. I find this to hold truth in my belief(although I never personally tried it). I think shrooms can also be used to drive negativity out of the body(which can be in the form of tears). i personally believe that shrooms are a great idea as means to overcome grief. We don't all do it to feel the jollies.

I don't recall mentioning crying during a bad trip? Not that I believe in bad trips, but only neutral trips, so in that sense yes I would agree they can transform you into a better person.

I've had a handful of ego loss trips on different substances that were indeed scary, since "making it stop" was not an option I eventually would have to succumb to the experience. Crying felt good before exiting my body/consciousness, it didn't "make it stop" but it did make "dying" feel that much more real - which assisted in the process.

Regardless, when I was talking about pain, what I meant was thinking about other loved ones (mom, dad, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, x-girlfriends, current girlfriends, friends, etc. etc. etc.) during a trip that brought tears (because you connect with that person and the reason for how they are, for a brief moment in time that makes you "understand")

Crying can be amazing while on mushrooms. I've cried tears or joy and tears of sorrow and the emotional release feels soooooooo good.

There was a girl at the bonfire party I was at and she was crying.

this lasted about 5 seconds until I questioned what the fuck I was doing haha.

Because obviously crying must be a "bad" thing?

Interesting.

Maybe you have not eaten shrooms very often?

Or maybe you just dont pay very much attention to anything in particular at all?

or maybe you are just young and inexperienced?

What makes you such a credible source in SPITE of the many reports we have to the CONTRARY of your opinion?

Meh, Go back to your D.A.R.E. meetings kid.

I cried while on a trip from smoking an herbal blend of lions tail and other herbs. It's mildly psychedelic but can be intense if you smoke enough. It feels like a 5 minute low dose shroom trip so yah.

My dog was in my room with me. I was tripping. I was on my bed thinking about how I'm not going to be able to be with my dog after about a year or two after from now after I transfer to university and stay in the dorms. It's 4 hours away from home. I also was thinking about how I will miss her. I spoil her rotten. She will stay with my mom and step dad, who don't spoil her as much as I do. At that moment I thought about how much I love her and that I should let her know in advance that I will be leaving her for a period and then will come back. I knew I had to tell my dog this. I know she doesn't understand english but I also know that it doesn't matter, I knew that we have a connection of unconditional love energy and vibrations and that she will understand everything I will be saying.

I crawl to the other side of my bed where my dog is and I call out her name, "Baby" so as to get her attention. I told her that I needed to tell her something important. I paused...and started crying. When I contained myself, I went on..."Baby, not now, but in about a year or two from now or whenever it's time for me to transfer to university, I won't be here anymore, but I'll come back after a couple years. You will be safe here and taken care of by my mom & step dad. I love you very much." and I just held her and I knew she understood everything I said and at that moment I was just very happy that I had a very early closure with saying goodbye to my dog, even though it really won't be for a long time. I became very happy that I still have a long time until I will be leaving.

Well my trip was over by now so I smoked some more and then I lied down on my bed. My dog came over to me and lied down on my stomach. I started petting her and thinking about how dogs represent unconditional love. I was just staring at her into her eyes and just thinking about how joyful it must be to be a dog and just love unconditionally all the time and at that very moment I had a realization. My realization was that dogs live in the ultimate "now" presence. That "in the now" feeling. I then started thinking about how so many people, and MYSELF, ESPECIALLY at this point in my life, would love to just live life in the ultimate now space without the dread of ego attached to my body. I looked into my dog's eyes and at that moment I realized that she was enlightened and very privileged to be an animal that lives in the complete "now" presence. I saw my dog as a buddha esque archetype at this point.

I got my phone and started looking at pictures of my dog. I came to a picture of her with a cute pink camo bandanna that I made for her and I started crying tears of complete joy. I just had a complete feeling of unconditional love and the feeling was so joyful that I had to cry. I kept looking through pictures. I put the phone down and then sighed a little. I started thinking about my life in the past couple years.

These trips changed my life. Every time I see my dog, or any animal for that matter, a friend's pet or whatever, I just get a sense of unconditional love and a feeling of "in the now" presence.

Here's a picture of my dog with her cute bandanna that I made for her. The love of my life, ultimate being of "now":

I cried after I looked at a picture of my niece, and just remembered how beautiful children were.

Felt bad but good, thats what mushrooms are all about.

There is nothing wrong with crying.

I've tripped countless times, and my bad trips never involved crying.
Maybe whimpering for the trip to end.(DMT)

Whenever I cry during a trip it's quite the opposite, and usually a good experience.
"I'm about to cry rivers of pure pleasure." - The Grouch

But out of all my 'bad' trips, in hindsight, have always turned out to be a 'good' thing for me.

Bad experiences are bad experiences, but there is a lesson to be learned about yourself from them. At least that's how it has always been with me.

I'm grateful for them.
Obviously I would rather have a good trip than a bad trip, but whatever happens, happens.
And you just have to deal with it, and learn from it.

These are tools for the mental, and I've heard many people using psychedelics, who at the time
were mourning for their lost loved ones. And many of those experiences have turned out positive.
This is why there is research being done with LSD to help cancer patients lose their fear of their
inevitable death.

Once I was tripping and told my wife to put the tv on something different because what we were watching was making me anxious. She flipped it on to the last 10-15 minutes of Free Willy. It was funny but it made me cry because it reminded me of when I was a child....plus I was happy the whale didn't get killed.

I took shrooms on one of my most trying days so far and had a bit of an emotional breakdown.  Not sure I've ever cried that hard.  It was cathartic, but certainly not an "easy" or fun trip.  ("My Girls" by Animal Collective was the only thing that brought me joy that night, so I spent hours listening to it on repeat - guess it's good to know what will get you out of that state if you fall into it and don't want to be there.)

Last year during my 3rd or 4th trip I was flying with my dog, right, we were just staring at each other. I called him over to me and he laid in my lap. I cannot describe the connection I felt with him, him and I, were the same. ya know? I then began to think of all the animal shelters that would euthanize dogs and cats just like him the next morning. Then I thought about all the beef/chickens/pigs/ect that would be slaughtered the next day because of human greed and senseless addiction. Shrooms really have a way of taking pain and suffering in our world and ramming it in your face like... HERE! THIS IS THE TRUTH OF LIFE. STOP HURTING CREATURES OF EARTH!.. maybe it's just me though.

I cried the first time I did them, right after I got out of this garage that I was trapped in, I started crying from relief, I think. I thought some fucked up shit had gone down (which it hadn't) and was freaked out, and there were a ton of drunk people. Never cried since then though, maybe cause I've not had a bad trip since.
