Computer search...none of their business...erase files?
    #10945480 - 08/26/09 11:46 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

So I have a mac that brings up commonly visited sites on the search bar, keeps history, and other visible proof of being on shroomery.

I think a lot of people in the world have mycophobia and jsut don't understand fungi...
I am getting my computer repaired for a broken clicker and some help with software questions.

How can I erase all automatically saved files, cookies, any fancy computer word for memory that is basically in my computer.

If you can't tell I really don't know what really smart computer people are able to look at on my computer.

They won't call you out on mushrooms. Comp techs see much weirder things, trust me.

i assume you're using Internet Explorer.

Tools/Options > Delete Browsing History

And trust me, no one looks at your browsing history. They go for the homemade porn.

This is true....
but thats even if they want to see whats on the computer....
but if you have a mac you may not be using internet explorer....
(i dont think they came out with a osx port....
BUT...
safari and firefox are used...
im not sure about safari but in firefox look in tools, then click clear private data...
i think some versions of firefox 3 has a feature called "private browsing"..
you might want to look into it if you are paranoid....

during the great oak trade I downloaded a private key thing. it's a bunch of letters and numbers. Can that be accessed or should I delete it?

This isn't the babysit mac users forum.  If you don't know what to do with your private key you may as well delete it.

> If you can't tell I really don't know what really smart computer people are able to look at on my computer.

Really smart people ignore macs.  It isn't worth learning about a platform with 5% market share.  So in that respect you're probably pretty safe.

Look up "public key encryption", but yes that's basically right in simple terms.

> Don't blame me if people want to respond to my threads.

Not blaming you at all.  You're just asking questions without doing any research at all.  All of your questions could be answered in 5 min on google.

Good luck.

That's not what this thread is about.  At least you stopped typing in all caps.  Maybe you'll even post something intelligent someday.

No, tripp420 has been posting in all caps in other threads and likes to tell them to fuck off when they tell him he's acting like an annoying n00b.

Your posts look fine to me.

put the private key on a USB stick or CD and delete off computer, this is what is used to encrypt/decrypt secure messages to you. Not that most people will know what it is, but its better safe then sorry.

If you are using safari, or FF then you should be able to delete cookies, browsing history, etc all inside the options somewhere.

This is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. With this logic the whole internet would be far less developped, there would be no luxury automobiles while everyone drove accords and corollas.

First off if you're going to go get your mac fixed then there really is no reason to open your browser. Your browser is for internet only. Secondly, i am assuming since you are also requiring assistance with software, you will be there next to the tech opening and asking questions about that software? Otherwise i would stick to getting software questions answered online or by friends or family. Thirdly, i am not sure what you are talking about as far as private key, but if it is a password type key you should not be storing them on your hard drive to begin with. That is just basic security.
