They look like prime healthy cakes. Most of my cakes have a little fuzzy, but they've fruited prolifically and I haven't gotten a contaminant yet.

Cobweb tends to grow pretty fast though, so if that's what it is you'll know in the next few days. Also, cobweb tends to look like fine strands of hair, whereas mycelium can be fluffy like cotton (with indistinguishable strands) or rhizo which will always be thicker ropes in comparison.

i couldn't say if it was fluffy or stringy off hand.  I'll post a pic in a few days to double check and make sure it is healthy.

definitely not cobweb

the cakes that I had that showed fluffy myc growing up off the cake like that all produced VERY VERY well. mine looked exactly the same and i thought it was cobweb as well, even sprayed it with h2o2, it definitely wasn't cobweb.

expect pins very soon

thats funny, my cakes got like that after going 3 days with out getting a mist.

god did they produce wonderfully! i believe the 3 days with out misting was responsible for the explosive pin-set, afterall evaporation of moisture from fresh air exchange is the #1 pinning trigger! the explosive pin-set could have also been a result of  two fluorescent tubes 3 feet above, or maybe just genetics- who knows. all i do know is that everytime i saw fluff like that they produced VERY VERY well. and look at how rhizomorphic that cake is on the top man, mmmmmm thats probably going to have an amazing harvest.

it doesn't look like you rolled the cake though. i always recommend dunking and rolling, the drastic improvement of performance is undeniable.

Actually, the number 1 pinning trigger is full colonization and consolidation of food source, but hey whos counting anyways...

full colonization is a given though, so its not even on the list.

i hope nobody tries to birth and fruit their cake when its only half colonized :awesome:

some people birth early and wonder why its not pinning just because it is 100% to the naked eye doesnt mean it has consolidated...

you would think it was a given but nothing really is with the questions that get asked around here...

if fae was the number one pinning trig there would be no invitro pinning
