Just have some dried semilanceata, now, from a friend...
Just wanted to know if someone has ever obtained mycelia
with dried specimens, is there enough spores ? I think there
must be enough (and enough verm too :crazy:), but i just
wanted to hear some experience...thanks !

Place a piece of dried gill onto agar and attemt to isolate from there.

Its not TOO hard. . .

I've germinated spores from a dried mushroom B4. Try using the Anti-Bacterial type Agars. .. and do just like Joshua suggested. . . place a chunck of dried gill on the agar and hope for the best.

You will need to section off a section of Rizo growth and transfer to another dish to ensure sterility. . . hten transfer to grain and use as normal.

Has anyone tryed this with edible types from the average grocery store? I was thinking of trying that on Portabella and shiitake.

Many (not all) gourmets are bred to be sterile so that the grower's don't have to deal with all the spores, inhaling them and stuff. That and some think spores taste bad.

You can try it. You can clone store bought mushrooms if you get them very fresh.
