So my goal is to pack on some pounds before I go in, and be able to run all day every day, up hill both ways in the snow. I'm not really concerned with "big muscles" or anything like that, I just want to be able to run.. a lot, without getting tired. Any advice on how I should start out?
A whiny bitch like you is leaving for basic training in 5 months?
hahahahahahahahhaa, have fun pal.

Yeah - I think I have insanely fast metabolism, gaining has always been hard.

btw i know what im talking about. in january i weighed 135. then i started working out with only different variations of pushups, and a pull up bar. i immediately lost 5 pounds then slowly gained 15 back. leaving me at 145. 15 lbs of muscle added within a matter of months using nothing but my own body weight and a backpack filled with various heavy objects. i weighed 145 in june, and still weigh 145.
and in the military you only need to carry your own weight plus some.

do this 3 days a week, with at least a day in between. cardio on the off days. idk uite how skinny you are, but if you need to put on a lot of weight quickly, drink a gallon of milk every day. yes. a gallon.

Gallon of milk a day - never heard of that one before, sounds unhealthy.

Whole Milk. If you don’t bother gaining some fat, drink 1 gallon whole milk per day on top of your current food intake. I’ve seen guys gaining 60lbs/year drinking 1 gallon per milk per day while Squatting 3x/week.
the cardio + weight training takes care of whatever fat you might gain

you'd mostly be putting on water weight. I'd recommend getting a 'weight gainer' like cytosport of Optimum Nutrition's Gold protein powder. But since you say you have a fast metabolism, you should get a weight gainer instead(high calories and high protein).
They don't taste that great, but they really work.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, some kind of calorie shake. I've been eating mash potatoes pretty much all day every day, and have gained about 10 in 2 weeks.

be realistic, you aren't going to gain 40 pounds in 5 months.
You don't need to be big to get past basic, you simply need strength.

You better start taking a multivitamin, because if that's true you are very malnutritioned.

I just bought a 50 pound weighted vest, and am using that to help me get in really good shape as I am also going to basic in a couple of months.
It is a really good piece of equipment and a good investment if you are serious about exercising, and your not gonna quit after a couple of weeks. I do push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, lunges, and sprints with it.

Right now I take fish oil and b12 - I eat all day and drink plenty of water, I don't think I'm malnutritioned (is that a word?) in any way, unless I have some kind of vitamin absorption problem I'm unaware of.

If you're trying to do this I recommend a different type of drug to help you out.

I didn't say I need 40 in 4 months, I said that 40 is about what I need to get where I probably should be. I know in basic you lose a lot of weight as well, I don't want to fall below the minimum while I'm there. I'm really not interested in PT all that much - roids? Good laugh - I just want to get through basic without killing myself because I was too lazy to get into shape.

I'm really thinking of doin some. I really don't care how I do it, but I weigh 172 right now and I want to be at 185 and at 6% BMI.
Shrunken testies, I don't give a shit. Those little fuckers could use a decrease so I don't pop any retarded children out that want to do the same roid workouts as me.
