Benadryl abuse more physically damaging than heroin abuse?

Heroin is commonly thought of as the most harmful and addictive recreational drug there is. However, after reading reports and doing some research, I have the impression that the abuse of dimenhydrinate (dramamine/ gravol), diphenhydramine (benadryl), datura, belladonna, or any other similar drugs can be even worse (per trip), addictive potential aside.

The damage caused by the abuse of these drugs seems to be devastating: significant brain damage after just a few high-dose experiences, after-effects lasting months after a single use (HPPD, temporary retardation), and psychological trauma from bad trips. I've never used heroin, but I regret my one strong dramamine trip, far more even than my few DXM trips. I can't imagine what tripping on dramamine several times a week for a few months would do.

Oh, and pretty bad liver damage too.

from what i understand opiates are physically harmless by them selves. its the addiction that hurts you

i think aerosol abuse and stuff like air duster is far more dangerous than most of the illegal drugs. opiates can be used effectivley for medical uses so i woudnt call them the most dangerous category of drugs.

Do you have any research showing that high doses of diphenhydramine is physically harmful in either short or long term usage scenerios?

No, not that much is known about the abuse of these drugs. Although anecdotal evidence isn't particularly strong, there's quite a bit of it, it should be enough to convince. Besides, shroomerites seem to love anecdotal evidence anyway.
