Maybe you should learn something about Psilocybe tampanesis....it forms potent sceletoria (philosophers stones)...maybe you find a sporesupplier(workman( Sporeworks)or BIO.....)who can sell you a syringe of them...
they need no terrarium you just innoculate the jars (you need ap. canner) and leave them alone for some weeks)...

neverwhere I think that you are asking for trouble doing something like this behind their backs. I do not know you roomies but what if one of them finds your little project and rats you out. To me it is not worth the risk. If you go to college you will be kicked out for sure and could face some serious fines or jail time. If I were you I would either talk to them about it first or wait until you can do this in your own place. I personnaly do not trust anyone. Even good frinds could accidentaly leak the info to someone else. Just my opinion.

I live in an off campus apartment with these girls. It is my own place, so I dont have to worry about getting kicked out of school, for example. However, you bring up some very good points...It's their house as much as mine.....I should receive my syringe within the next few weeks...Maybe I will just hold on to them and wait to grow....anybody else have an opinion?

If you can lock your door to your room or the room that this will be taking place in you probibly could pull it off. I do not know how your privacy situation is, but what if on of the girls go looking in your unlocked room for a pen or cd/tape or something small and stummble on your project. It could spell disaster. I am just saying you don't want to get caught because you were being stupid.

I would agree that you should either try to tell your room mates the deal, or not do it at all. I can personally tell you that people get pretty pissed when they find your little friends stashed away somewhere. No matter where you hide them they will probably eventually be found, and having the stress of being caught every day really messes with you after a while too. Are your room mates totally against drugs, or just against you growing them at home?

Well,
they're not totally anti-drug.....my roomates smoke weed,but thats it. They dont trip, so therefore I dont think they would appreciate it if I grew mushrooms. They do not give me any trouble If I am tripping at the house, but I have a feeling they wont approve of a little shroom factory...i will just have to ask them and hope they approve.....

I am also trying to grown them on the college scene, using the soda bottle toechniques. Howver, my rooates are in on it with me. It will be very hard to keep from the girls, especially when you have to spray them twice a day.

I grew two batches in the dorms both times my roomates knew that I was doing it. I used the pf method and instead of pop bottles I used tupperware that were supposed to be used for a lettuce crisper with some perlite in the bottom. Then I put them in one of those plasic trunks and put a lock on it.I had to air them out and spray in the lid and cover fast twice a day. codfish is right about the stress factor. I was paranoid as hell. Also I did not get that many shrooms for the amount of effort that I put in. You should try and talk your roomies into it and build a decient terrarium.

actually.....little update.....my roomies came home just now and saw me cruising the shroomery. i told them im trying to decide whether or not to grow....they didnt seem surprised, they said it would be ok as long as i kept it out of their faces and respected their feelings on the topic....they are afraid of parents coming by and finding my goods..or tattle tale friends, which I understand. It needs to be small....but of course i want it safe from contam, and of course i want a good fruiting....I know I have alot to do before I can even begin...I want to go over all options w/ roomies beforehand.....I just need some guidance!! thanks for all the help guys, i appreciate it!! Vinn, are you talking about the poor man's terranium? hows it working out?

Well, I have a remarkably similar situation. I'm at University living with 2 guys and 2 girls. The 2 girls are so tight about everything I feel like I can't breathe. One of them hasn't even had a drink for a year. I just keep my growing operation in my closet and everything is fine. They know, but its not in their face, so its ok.

tell your roomies about the dangers of getting mushies from dealers. unless you know the dealers well it can be pretty risky. i bought some a while ago and the guy selling them didn't even know what species they were let alone the strain. hell, after they learn a little more about the whole procedure, they might be a little bit more interested in mushrooms. good luck!

yes I had the same experience...my guy told me (the dealer line we all know) "Awww this is killer shit" but thats all he knew about it....that is one of the reasons I decided I wanted to grow my own...besides the fact that it seems to be far more satisfying to know that I nurtured them myself....In the few hours since my last post I have managed to show my roomates some of the billions of webpages on mushroom info....they seem to be alot more accepting now...one of them even mentioned how it could be fun to help me.....I'll keep you all posted
