First hpoo mini double tub - first flush with pics!!!!!!!!!!

Just made up this tub today.

Its a 3 litre food storage container from either asda or tesco. Cheap plastic tub. Its not a double tub yet, but once its done colinsie ill put the top tub on it to fruit.

Substrate is horse manure collected from a nature trail near where i stay. Mixed with verm and some intant coffee.

I never used any measurements, just eyeballed it then hydrated to feild capacity and pasturised. It worked out to 2 pints worth of manure.


So that gives me a ratio of 1:2 - i used 2 1/2 pints of colinised straight brown rice that had been colinised for about a week before i got to use it.


Got a 1/2 pint cake that ill probably spawn to 2 pints of poo in a smaller container.

And as a wee backup got a 1/2 pint cake dunking

Has it really been that long since my soda bottle fruiting chamber and newspaper double tub??

actually ive still got that damn newspaper sub fruiting. I can seen knots which hav ebeen there since the first and 2nd flush, there taking there time.

But i think there now finaly coming along.


Anyway, so far so good, it looks like its recovering already. Hopefully by tomorrow ill see more colinisation.

Id expect maybe 5 days till full colinisation, depending on how the weather is (dont use heating unless its reallyt cold).

This should show how well my straight brown rice jars are that were done in drinking glasses with foil lids and micropore tape as a filter. The cakes smelled good but you never know.

1 of the cakes that i used the same method has what looks like a few tiny spots of mould spores here and there. That has been left in the jar for further inspection

Well, after i noticed mycelium popping through the top i also noticed pale green patches of mould spores here and there.

Normally, i would have just ditched it and started again but

1. the manure which i had collected also was contaminated. I thought it was dry but obviously it wasnt dry enough
2. This is the last grow i will be doing for the moment. Its getting to risky to grow.


I decided to just leave it be and see if it colinised more, it did Most of the spores have got covered up with mycelium, most of which i think is mushroom mycelium as theres tons of knots on those areas, theres still a few small patches of spores here and there.

Im pretty sure most of its mushroom mycelium. The manure which is contaminated and has the same mould spores as my tub shows a completly different thin and whispy mycelium growing on it.

But no matter, its pinning already and has a fair amount of mushrooms growing, most of it is at the sides so far but there are a ton of knots in the middle too which may start growing soon aswell or maybe for the next flush.


I made the 2nd tub for it so that its a double tub, just need to put holes in it when i get back from work.,

I know why it contaminated. It obviously never got pasturised properly as its growing to same mould as the stuff i thoiught was dry.

I would have been better of steam sterilising. I have no meat thermometer and no way of getting 1 (yes im that skint)

but no matter, looks like its going to give a nice flush anyway which is great as i promised someone some of thenm.

Plus i got 2 cakes fruiting as well with tons of knotts.

I really love the ginetics i have from the hawain strain, from 20cc's of spores, i have only had 2 substrates do poorly. 18 cakes and 3 mini dub tubs. 1 tub gave  poor flushes, and 1 tub gave a weak flush. Pretty good IMO. The rest gave out great fluishes and were plenty potent.

tons more pins have showd up! more than i would have ever expected, especialy considering this tub was contaminated. It just keeps popping up more pins.

Too late to take a picture, ill get 1 maybe tomorrow when more have hopefully showed up.

gotta try horse manure. This stuff really is great, even when its not quite the best stuff from outside it still works great.

Due to our rubbish weather its hard to find good aged stuff thats had a chance to dry out properly. the stuff i had gott had been well rained on and never dried out so it had to be oven dried, then rewetted and dried again to remove the last of the amonia.

Make sure you pasturise it properly though otherwise it will contam with mould.

I'm astonished at what this tub has turned out like. I was expecting maybe 100 grams from the first flush if i was lucky.

Well.



163 grams!!!!

And thats not the complete harvest yet, thres still a few that are maybe 6 hours behind. Plus there was quite a few that could have grown longer but were impossible to leave.

That beats my mates exact same mini dub tub. The only difference is he used 2 half pint pf cakes and i used 2 half pint straight brown rice cakes. Plus he never prepared the hpoo very well (just sterilised as it was when collected)

Im well chuffed with the results.

I couldnt believe the yeild as i was expecting much larger mushrooms. There smaller than what i have had from cakes, infact i just harvest 40 grams from a cake that had much fatter and larger mushrooms but the overall yeild more than made up for it.

This is definatly a great goodbye to psylocibin cultivation (hopefully not for good)

there ya go veda, now you have experience in cakes and spawning to bulk. theres no excuse for you not to be a TC anymore :awesome:

i really want to try that same model/size dub tub. can we get more specifics on how you built the thing?

are those holes drilled in the size with micropore tape over them? how many? what size holes? how often did you mist? fan? etc. etc.

DMT extracted from momisa hostilas rootbark.

Anyway.

Its a mini double tub made from 2 3 litre containers. I cut out the lid leaving just the part that attaches to the tub and glued the 2nd tub onto that rim so the 2nd tub attaches to the bottom tub.

Holes are slits made by a small knife, 2 rows just above substrate level , no micropore tape (which only allows gas exchange)

The holes are small enough that they shouldnt dry out the tub but allow FAE and not need polyfill. I have no method of measuring RH but based on what came from the tub it must have been in the 90's.



this is another tub with 1/4 inch holes instead of slits, my mate used this for pf cakes spawned to hpoo with some nice results.

ok heres up update.

I think the damn things went crazy on the first flush. Seems like most of what its capable of has been.





the biggest mushroomm weighs in at 27 grams. total harvest about 50 grams.

I still see a ton of knots, dunking to see if they come to life
