hi unfortunitaly i have to grow shrooms using a different method. basically its a cake in a modified pop bottle. now i cant keep the pop bottles out in the open anymore. i have to hide them in a dark place for most of the time. now i can take the pop bottles out every day for about 3-6 hours so they will get some light but then i have to hide them again. it would be indirect light. my question is: would this work? would the yields/psilocybin suffer at all?
thanks
bob j.

You only need light to initate pinning and give the fellas direction.
Someone here posted a 'grow-chart' thing where he compared how much the light affects growth, the mushrooms grew more in darkness. I don't know if this test has been repeated with the same kind of results.
I don't know about moving the bottles around a whole lot though.

Light doesn't exactly give them direction. Gravity is what gives them direction, light signals the mycelium to start growing fruit to reproduce.
You can get a glow stick if you want more light but can't take it out of your drawer or whatever.

You guys missed what kykeon was trying to achieve. He was merely showing his observations and not necessarily fact. So many conditions come into acting when trying to guage light cycles. I think generally not much light is needed. Some might debate this fact but the proof is there to be seen. From my own observations I proved to myself that light is generally not necessary. You normally only need a max of about 2 hours a day. As long as you give your mush some direction, then things will be fine.
