I dunno Hanky, I've never really heard anyone till now actually defend meth. But it makes sense when I think about it.

I can understand that it's similar to any other drug in the sense that some people really
fuck it up for others..

I think the point that upswell is trying to get across is that it has a serious potential for misuse, and those that misuse tend to really cause trouble for other people.

This is probably the best argument I have heard for legalizing meth (and by extension, almost any other drug):
http://www.strike-the-root.com/61/victor/victor1.html. The author acknowledges the gravity of the substance, but still makes a good case. I have it linked in my sig, but it is often overlooked.

Of course the potential for misuse is an argument against legalization, but a flawed one. The real answer is to end the abuse of the drug, and prohibition is a poor strategy to accomplish that goal. Education is a good strategy for a start.

Whatever, you're just recycling the garbage you read in the media and see on TV.  None of your comments are based on facts or personal experience.  You can swallow all that propaganda if you like, some of us are capable of thinking for ourselves and basing our observations on personal experience.

you're a sheep.

Why take this so personally, if your convinced that meth is not damaging. I guess due to your use of the drug, meth, that you feel confident that it does not have negative affects on the human mind/body. However, you are incorrect, and somewhat childish to pounce on Upswell. Meth is damaging. It causes numerous psychological issues, caused by the biological deterioration of receptors in your brain.
A quick search, will find numerous medical articles on its damaging affects. And not just "propaganda".

Hell, in most countries in Europe, you cant even get prescribed Adderall (Amphetamine, meths brother) due to many reasons, some of them being its strong likely hood for abuse and mental illnesses that have seven shown up in early cases where children have been exposed to it. Ruling out that long term abuse is needed for meth or any of its analogs to start damaging that body.

Hank, I think you'd be a perfect example for my new thesis on Methaphetamine use; Meth stunts brain growth and ability to mature (See Hank, Age 38, but shares strong similarities to that of a adolescent mind)

Meth amphetamine IS NOT physically addictive.

How so? Do you have actual evidence on it not being addictive. I am confident in saying that meth users do go through withdrawals. Last time I checked, I dont feel like I have to curl up in the fetal position, nauseous, stuck in a perpetual circle of hot flashes and cold sweats from getting of Marijuana. So please explain your rational for this statement.

i agree with both of you, on one hand, meth is pyschically(sp?) & mentally addictive to the majority of people who use it
(that used to be myself included)

however, hanky, personally, for what ever reason, does not get addicted, seriously

i have met many people with strong mindsets that never let any drug take control of them. meth included
they smoke it once a year at most, sometimes a couple nights in a row, then not for years

i don't consider them anything more than weekend warriors

i can't even get close to meth w/o slipping downhill
but i've never freaked out on shrooms or dmt since i was a kid, i see why people freak out, i just can't, personally

Hmm.  If that is true, why do doctors continue to prescribe Desoxyn, which is pure methamphetamine hydrochloride?

I have a friend that got a prescription recently.  He is one of the smartest people I know and does not suffer from any of the negative effects that the propoganda would have you believe.

Doctors also prescribe OxyContin which Im assuming that we all know how  damaging that has been on communities (Purdue and 634million).
I dont know much of Desoxyn, however I know that it doesnt make it ok for you if its prescribed from the doctor. I brought this up earlier, but Amphetamine and other analogs can exhibit damage early on (Kids and their Hallucinations). Maybe we have coverage on this due to its widespread popularity. But if kids are already exhibiting signs, imagine the long term usage of an adult. Keep in mind, Desoxyn and Adderall etc...  Are pure compounds made in utmost purity in a professional lab setting, and they still exhibit, physical and mental harm to the prescribed. Try guessing how many impurities can be mixed up in street meth, a whole other factor that can lead to other damaging symptoms.
