Psilocybe mexicana : Jalisco 18

just wanted to share -i mixed about 50% coir to cpoo added a good amount of straw, paper, gypsum, and a small amount of BRF. after that i mixed in verm till i had the consistency i wanted. after that i washed rye grass seed but didn't soak it at all. then i added it to my mix about 20% of the mix was the rye grass seed. i then loaded it all into a laundry bag, put it in a bucket and poured water in waited for all of the bubbles to stop coming up then drip dry the laundry bag over night. when i felt the right amount of water i loaded up my mycobags and PCd for 2 hours. the next day i started up the flowhood and got to work. after my myco bag was fully colonized. i decided to fruit it. i took a bucket, drilled holes in the bottom. then covered the bottom with rocks so that no water can pool. put down my spawn. covered it completely in sand, then put a peat/ verm casing over that. about 7 days from pin to harvest ill answer any questions asked -and yes i have dozens o prints unfortunately i have to use photobucket since my post is to large so you guys cant see the detail in these pics.

WOOOUUUW!! Very nice, congratulations on that harvest. Certainly the best pinset I've seen posted anywhere!
So, just a few questions, hope I didn't just miss you already explaining it. If I did then slap me.
1 - Did you use liquid culture to start those mycobags? 2 - It was an isolate, I presume? 3 - How long did it take to colonize..? I heard some people say Mexicana is a very fast colonizer.
Thanks, enjoy the fruits of your labour there!!!

the myco bags were started with one pint of wbs inoculated with spores... my isolate didnt work so well after the bags were knocked up they took about 15-20 days to colonize, then after cased about 7 days to fruit. any other questions are welcome.

Hey hows the potency of P. mexicana? They looks very similar to cyans in their girth and stature. But if I had to eat like 15 of them to get the same trip from a heady B+ shroom..then I'd go through your stash quick!

jalisco produced a good amount of small stones on the casing. but i have not dug through the substrate yet. Atl# seems to put out a much greater amount of stones.

i have been experimenting with sand. the basic idea is that it is inert. i didn't sterilize/pasteurize my casing at all. so i put the sand down as sort of contam barrier.to keep my substrate separated from my peat/verm casing.
if you guys really want to see someone who mastered exotics take a look at CaptainFuture 's posts and give a real psilocybe master some credit.

Brilliant! I tried using some cactus mix right out of the bag as a casing for P. mexicana (Jalisco strain) and also got a quick and tremendous pin set. Unfortunately, the tray succumbed to mold before most of the mushrooms matured. The sand barrier is inspired and something I will have to try.
Good work!

I just ordered a syringe of these and APE last week, came in the mail today with a free Tampanensis syringe. Can't wait to start up a new project.
Just wondering, are the fruiting parameters for Mex. Jalisco or Tampanensis different from cubes? Also are they even different from each other? I assumed they'd be similar because they're both sclerotia producing species. I know RR says that cubes teach people bad habits, and that their light and FAE requirements are forgiving compared to some other species, do either of these species need something in particular?

i live in NY its the middle of the summer, so nice fluctuating weather about 70-95. the humidity was just what it created in the bucket with a plastic bag draped over it. besides that i had the ability to fan and mist liuke 5 times a day.

Yes that is such an amazing flush. OMG. Too unreal. What would I have to do to get a print, so that I can try this out exactly how you did it.

This WILL be archived, once it is not active.
Be sure to notify a Mod once this thread has died down for a few weeks/months.
But for now, why not keep it open so we can pick bw's brain?

I'm about to have my run w/ the P. Mex Jalisco and i'm super excited. I'm still trying to figure out how i'm going to fruit them. I know i want to make WBS bags, but not sure of the substrate i'm mixing to. I'm keeping my eyes on this thread!
again, that's one of the finest tubs i've ever seen, let alone that it's P. Mex Jalisco... amazing!

So mid-late summer? Hmmm, Your latitude would likely be a factor as well. Do you think season was a big factor with your ATL success as well? Georgia is a far cry from Mexico.
With indoor growing, do you have any ideas to share about optimal conditions?
I have to ask, because this is INSANE

mid to late summer same lat as NYC is when i got those flushes both jalisco and atl. for indoor grows all i have to say is treat them like pans,LEAVE YOUR STONES in your sub. use a casing (i use verm in mine ) i also like to have holes i the bottom of my trays for these guys and over mist. something i would not do for pans or cubes.
