A cricket...
    #1091927 - 11/27/02 08:56 PM (14 years, 10 days ago)

...has been following me around my house for days.  It's freezing outside, but he seems to like it in here.  He's just been scootin all over the place and always shows up at the weirdest times.  He's hiding under some computer cables right now.  My mom wanted me to flush him, but I just want to let him be, it's kinda neat having a live-in cricket to keep ya company.

"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Mabey I'll have to capture him and smoke him out, then send him on his way.

Whats important now is you give him something to drink... or he will soon die.
Don't fill a bottle cap with water, on the offchance it find it... it would probably drown. Instead, let it get moisture from it's food preferably starchy. Slices of uncooked potato work well. Smoking the cricket would be unwise, THC is a natural insecticide (makes sense for a plant to make it, huh?)
Keep in mind, this may be someone from a past life trying to contact with you. Treat alll living creatures with respect.

Won't he die soon anyway?

I thought crickets don't live very long

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

They don't live very long compared to us. But we don't live very long compared to trees, and trees live for hardly a speck in the duration of time. You see it's all relative.
The cricket will die someday. To you, it may have only been a couple of months... but to it, it was a life time.

This time of year you're likely to see either nymphs or immature nymphs. When the ides of february roll around, it will probably have developed into an adult... dying in about two months. Keep your cricket happy! You're cricket loves you, love it back... it will sing you you!
PS The bottom of your shoe is a humane death, once you tire of this pest incessant chirping.(of course)

You are blessed! Co-habitating with crickets is totally cool!

Back in the late eighties, my girlfriend and I lived on the ocean just south of Santa Cruz, and we had a cricket show up one day. We had heard that this was good luck, so we let him stay with us. He seemed to like it under the refrigerator, but he would occasionally go out for a stroll. He was with us for many months, and would serenade us at night. Life was very enjoyable -- just my baby, our cricket, and me in our little beach house by the sea!

Those were truly blissful and halcyon days! You never know what you have until it?s gone. To those of you with crickets or girls, enjoy these days now, while their at your doorstep. Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we may die!

Now ya gotta make at least 6 figures to live in that house I bet!
I like hearing crickets when I'm falling asleep!
Oh yeah, also, when is it going to be tommorow????
but yeah you never know you might get the life beaten out of you with a baseball bat, hit by a car, or shot/shot at!
