Chances are pretty good that there are many, as of yet undiscovered mushrooms.  Most mushrooms have gills. There are so many gilled mushrooms that they have been separated into five groups. (This according to the National Audubon Society.)

The divisions are based on shape, the way the gills are attached and the presence or absence of veils.  This is of course including both partial veils and universal veils.

Don't take my word for it, look it up. But this is how I understood veils. :goodluck:

edited for: spelling.

yess but they do not all "detach" the same way. Some fall off nicely, and others (like I have seen from my own grow) like to deteriorate a bit and then fall off. Kind of start to thin out really bad. Hard to explain how that would look. Lol. But I have at times questioned whether or not the veil was broken or not. Eventually, if you are questioning things, the veil will obviously fall completely away.

Yes, all Ps. cubensis mushrooms have a partial veil, which leaves a ring or annulus around the stipe of the specimen after this veil is broken to allow it to release spores.

All Psylocibe cubensis are the same. It is like saying Homo s. Sapiens.

The different "strains" are no more different among each other as you are with a guy in China or in Africa. There are only very small, visual differences between the different commercial names of strains, but the veil is consistent through the species.
