Drifting is slower than properly maintaining grip...
But, yes, knowing how to control a car is helpful

Last checkpoint i went through i got pulled from my car and blew a .078. The cop was like "all this tells me is that 10 mins ago you were drunk" and handed me my keys. I was so relieved.

drifting through the guard rail and over the cliff?
That is when your drift is weak and you fail.

No it is not. Drifting was invented to enter a curve at a faster speed to complete the curve.

Wrong. Why do f1 cars not drift? Infact, why do absolutely NO race cars drift? And no, power sliding does not count, there's a whole other difference in the science involve in rally

what are the road conditions at any given point on the road at any given time, weight transfer, center of gravity, suspension geometry, all that shit is irrelevant to driving anywhere but a track or closed road
as others have said, what's about to step out in front of you from behind a bush or waiting around that curve, has joe blow blown a transmission seal and dumped hydraulic fluid all over the road?
I agree 100%. Its the unforseen events whilst driving on the road that are dangeorus. There is nothing you can do to anticipate them, you might be a fantastic driver, but rally car driver or not, you're not going to be able to stop a 2000kg metal object in 10m travelling at 80km/h.

Again, wrong. You actually lower the amount of G your car pulls once you're sideways.

First:
Two or three months ago I was with my girl at a friend's house. I got plastered, the girl doesn't drink. We were driving back home which is like a 30 minute drive, and on the one "highway" (its just a regular road, just long) suddenly there was signs saying "DUI CHECKPOINT AHEAD". The police were doing it right next to a private development. I just turned 21 two or three weeks ago, so when this happened I didn't even want a cop to talk to me in fear of a underage.
The road had a slight bend about 100 or so meters ahead, and there was one right turn into the development. I told my girl to turn, since we could exit back out around the checkpoint, down the road.
After the turn there is a stop sign about 50ft ahead, and I see a state trooper parked with all his lights off. I came up with some story that we were heading to a buddy's house in the same development. I was hoping he'd turn before we got to a point where it was obvious we just drove around to avoid the checkpoint.
We'll he follows us to that point. I say fuck it, go to the highway we came off of, we'll say we didn't want to waste time being stopped and that we wanted to get home. Like I said, she doesn't drink and was driving, I just didn't want an underage.
When we pull up to the highway, we turn towards our destination and he turns back towards the checkpoint. She was sober so she drove fine, I guess he had no reason to pull us over.
PS: A famous quote about drifting goes something like "Drifting isn't the fastest way around a corner, but the most beautiful."
