Short, stubby shrooms

Hey all,

My first flush is coming in, and not only is the yield mediocre, but pretty much all of the shrooms growing are really short (like 2 inches tops) with fat stems. I'm happy that my first grow is at least producing something, but I'd like to have some more normal fruits for my next flushes if I can. I read about fruits like this and it seems like low FAE and excess moisture can produce them, so I would think that fanning more + misting less will help. What do you guys think?
Shotgun terrarium, I've been manually fanning it 4-6 times a day and misting about the same (probably too often, it looks like now). Strain is Wollongong, if that makes a difference.

Oh there's another thing I forgot to ask. Do you think these fat midget shrooms would be as potent as a normal sized, taller shroom? I would hope that since the stems are fatter there'd be more psilocybin in them than a taller but thinner shroom.

yes maybe even more potent

your fruits look normal cake size dude..

its genetics and multispore thats causing this

when u do get a tall ass shroom clone it.....

after this flush just make sure to give those cakes a good 24 hour dunk thena roll in the ol verm and your second pinset might be much more satisfying.. and if not.. then maybe next time :thumbup:

those fruits on your cakes are decent size from cakes. Pinset isnt the greatest but that could just be ginetics. The next flush may be much better.


what kind of lighting are you using? you want bright light in the daylight range. If your using a 6500K cfl bulb try bringing it closes so your terrarium is brightly lit.

Yes, what Veda said and picking the big suckers early is good practice too. That gives a chance to the smaller ones to develop properly and there are some more pins forming/maturing when the cakes don't have to put all the effort on growing those fat ones.

The packaging for the bulb was pretty ghetto so it didn't say the temp but it was 20 watts fluorescent which seemed to be in line with the correct daylight range bulbs.
