what is the DMT experience?

is it a portal to another plane of existence? is a manifestation of our own mind? do u think this were we go when die?

my own thoughts are i can not for one second believe these are manifestations of my mind but this is definately a doorway to somewhere...what that place is i dunno

what do u think?

i think on the surface its a manifestation of the mind as you put it but it acts to symbolize something much greater and beyond us. I havent figured out what that is yet though.

I think its aspects of the mind and which allow us to see the true nature of reality.  I feel that you can get there without it if so trained.  I think it has to do with frequencies that we normally cant pick up on and higher dimensions that we normally cant see.

No disrespect intended to Terance Mckenna. Terance was a man who happened to be in the right place at the right time, and he was in with the right group of people that were able to promote him and his philosophies. There are many people out there, even some that post on these boards, that are just a insightfull and even more experienced in the ways.  Was he a profit? Not in my eyes. Did he profit? Oh yes. Terance was a mere mortal man like the rest of us, but he got the rare opportunity that most mere mortals dont get. He got the spotlight, a microphone, and an audience.

it is my belief that the things you see while on dmt, or any other psychedelic for that matter,  are most definitely manifestations of the mind. how could it be anything else? not to discredit the experience though, as the mind is in itself a very deep and mysterious space.

I used to have the same ideas when I considered these experiences.  I thought that it was just a chemical interplay in my head that caused it.  But the more that I think and read about this stuff I am moving toward a less materialistic interpretation of the psychedelic experience.  I think that it allows us to dissolve the physical boundaries of our bodies and that seepage gives us access to realities that are not available to the five senses.

You are propelled to a place.  Not a state of mind.  A place.

youve got to remember that even our own sober reality is just chemical interplay in our heads as well. these altered states arent any more real or fake than the other, just different. everything we perceive in this world, sober or fucked up, is always in our heads. there is no denying that. at least, thats my take on the matter.

^i agree. read up on parallel universes. the theories behind it are absolutely fascinating. was trippin on some nice amazonians and right before hand i watched a show on parallel universes. so i was in that mindset. hit the nitrous and i was suddenly getting answers and insights that i don't think any human has the capacity to think about sober.

unfortunately i lost recollection of what exactly i learned because n2o is a little cunt like that.

It's amazing to me how stupid man is, (oh, i'm no different. I'm human too.), and has proven to be through history. We don't even know what to believe about existence, whether it is all real, all God, or all a dream. If we don't know these basic foundations of reality, how could one possibly have an answer to the PO's question? You're all opinionated, no more. Makes me think of the proverb "A fool has no delight in understanding, but in expressing his own heart." oh, i'm no different. I'm human too.
