Greetings all! (n00b ps. atlantis questions)

hello everyone! im new to the forum and had just a couple quick questions on ps. atlantis. ive done my fair share of research but cant find much on this perticular strain.. first of all, does anyone have experience with this strain? any recommended substrates/casings? afoaf knocked up a pint of BR three days ago but still no colonization, a spore print was used but the rice was somewhat burnt.. swim cant cook, haha, maybe thats why? ive also heard this is not the easiest strain for beginners but its hard to obtain spores where i live so its all i got to work with.. :/ thanks in advance!

Are you talking about a cubensis strain or the different species psilocybe atlantis? The ATL#7 prints going around are in fact not psilocybe atlantis, but are psilocybe galindoi.  Search Workman's posts on "atlantis" for the info.  ~Pixie~

so you used straight brown rice? and burnt it? and used it anyway?
it would probably be easier for you if you crushed the rice into flour then used vermiculite with it as well.

it is a true atlantis that i found in my own yard and correctly identified and tested. :wink: i would post pics but i ate them too quick.. haha. and yeah the rice was burnt but only a little, the heat on the stove was to high so the bottom of it burn but was caught early so the stuff on top was fine. only some of the burnt rice got in the jar, is this okay?

"Taming" wild mushroom prints generally require some advanced agar and isolation techniques in order to separate the mushroom spores from all the contaminants that land on them in the wild.

If no agar work was done, keep a close eye out for contams.

thanks for the tip 'lostkeys'. so far ive seen no contams.. the print was made imediately after picking and from what i have read the outdoors are very clean of contaminants (compaired to indoors). maybe someone could help out in getting a clean print....? pm if anyone can help me! i will trade!

If its truly Psilocybe atlantis you may have problems fruiting it.  I've made a few attempts with no success so far although I did generate some strange blackish sclerotia.  Did you want a microscopic confirmation of your collection?

Examined spores are consistant with Panaeolus foenisecii (= Panaeolina foenisecii).
