I just made some bizarre crab dip or something
    #10880318 - 08/18/09 01:38 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

It's late and I was starving.
I'm at my dad's house (the house I grew up in) and there is NOTHING. Some old bacon in the fridge, browning lettuce, and some other shit I'm too nervous to try.
So I check out the pantry.

The only meats in there were a couple cans of lump crab meat and a few cans of clams (he likes to make chowder.) Don't know why there would be anything else really since it's a pantry and not a freezer.
Grab the crab, keep looking. Cans of beans but far too big for me to open just to make a personal dish. Taco shells. Alright cool I make some strange crab taco.
Grab an onion and a jar of green chiles and I'm back to the kitchen.

Throw the crab meat, the onion (it was small), some of the chiles, some stale cracker crumbs (), mayo, brown mustard, chili sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, and nothing else. Check out the taco shells and of course they are stale as fuck. So I saw a half full bag of tortilla chips which is somehow not stale. I crushed a few up and put them in the mix hoping it would give it enough solidity that I could make a "crab cake." Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, there were no eggs.

Threw it all in a pan with oil. Of course they didn't stay shaped so the oil was unnecessary, or the amount could have been reduced. Cooked it... well, until I felt like stopping I guess. Let it get some color and get hot.

So now I'm dipping the rest of the chips in it, and it isn't fucking half bad. Could use less onion, and it would probably be better if the onion was added after it cooked. DEFINITELY needs some more chili sauce and probably some more cayenne for an easy kick up in heat.

I'm gonna have someone else try it tomorrow to make sure I'm not liking it just because I want to eat it.
