I wonna get a dog

But i havent got sufficient income yet :S

I was thinking if i get a dog it will motivate me, help me make more money.

Should i get 1 now or wait until im financially secure?

Yeah, we might be getting a dog soon too.

I don't know about the motivation to make more money bit though.

Dogs aren't really that expensive to keep, right?

Thing is, i live in a crapy little town, alone - no friends, nothing. And even tho i have family 20 mins away with some animals i am alone in my flat most the time. And that is depressing, in the last 1 month , i only didcoouple of days work here, so yeah, im thinking a dog would help me out :rasta:

Get the dog. The most expensive part will be just buying it initially and if you get it from a shelter it'll only be about $100.

Oother thing too conisder is that i live in a apartment complex where no pets are allowed :crankey:

And i get monthly inspections :/


So, during the inspection dates i would lock/close the dog in a little room here...

And i wuld also train the dog to crap/pee into a little sandwitch box.

Dont get me wrong, there is a small park near by and i will walk the dog few times every now and that to fill her "running quoata", but i had 2 dogs in the past and im good with annimals - i can train her t crap in a plastic box in my bathroom so i could avoid being seen during the day - walking around with a dog.

But like i said, my parents are against this. I have innsufficient income yet, and if i dont come through in few month time me and the dog are going to end up outside. I'll be fine, but the dog wont ... :S

Don't forget about:

1) taking care of it if it's sick
2) feeding it
3) cleaning your place up
4) fleas

Don't forget about:

1) taking care of it if it's sick
no problem

2) feeding it
no problem - i only eat finest stakes and burgers and whats on mhy menu is on my dog menu :crazy2:

3) cleaning your place up
no problem

4) fleas
np

Like i said i had 2 dogs for 10 years so i know how to take care of em


But then if i dont make any money in a few months me and the dog become drifters, i will head for distant lands and taking the dog with me will be a rpoblem ... :shrug:

I have some investment business ventures taking off atm, and if they dont climb, im screwed

yea my dog was sick for the first 8 months we had it and i had to pay 5 grand in medical bills.. then after 2.5 years of being fine my dog got a tumor that had to be removed asap , $1300 was to be paid within 2 weeks of the finding or my dog would have died.


i would make sure you have an income before buying a dog.

In the worst case scenario i would have to MOVE somewhere too another town where i get employed, and i guess i wont have enough $$$ to rent a full house soo i will have to do ROOM SHARE, and 99% chance they dont allow pets - just like here - but with a alittle luck i might get around it - just like here...

:shrug:

It sucks man, i have monetary problems which arent even my fault - few days ago i acheived something really awesome (in the industry) which would allow me to earn MORE than sufficient income but "that" was taken away from me, and i dont even know what for and why...

Maybe wait till you have a job, and wanting to get the dog will motivate you to get the job? You don't want to run out of money and then not be able to buy him or her food.

Also, I thought most shelters would give the dog away for free? Unfortunately if they aren't adopted they are put down.

Don't forget the cost of vaccinations and spaying/neutering.

You're going to want an initial vet visit and a stool sample for testing.

Always adopt.


Good luck... I know you want one really badly, but realistically, he's not going to help put food on the table and it sounds like you may be struggling to do the same for yourself. :shrug:

Ohh and Nite owl, what i said is i HAVE money now to indulge in expensive meat and its not gonna run out for the nest 4 seasons at least - and in that time i better DO get a job INDEED.

i would just wait, it is so hard to try to "get around" not having a dog.

when/if you get caught the dog is the one who will suffer. when he has to get moved around/ giving the dog away because when he might be caught it is either you or the dog and we all know how that goes.

also dog in a shared apt/room is not the way to go and when you do get a job where does the dog go? do you have enough money in the summer to keep the a/c on for the dog because it is hot!!!

there are so many factors that haven't been listed.

i know you want a dog but it sounds best to wait and better yourself first.

BTW here is my girl ANNA when she just woke up :-)

Know the feeling all to well... Alone, no friends, nobody understands a word you say since language SUCKS at explaining abstract concepts... Lived 90% of my life like that. If it wasn't for my dog, I probably would have gotten so desperate to die that I would somehow get hold of a gun to do the job... (I tried everything else, except cutting myself, I didn't want it to be slow... I even tried overdosing on my ritalin pills I was taking at the time (didn't know anything about drugs, so I didn't know it was meth, and my parents just kept feeding me the shit. When I read up on drugs and stuff, and heard it was meth, it got me REAL angry... And then those same parents wanted to take me to the police for weed, but I didn't have any on me...), ended up getting tweaked out, but not dead.)

But I do say, make sure you have enough to feed it. A small dog like a jack russel (if you mind hairs all over the place, chose something else, they leave hairs like it's crazy...) would eat around 3 5kg bags of dog food. Don't know about a puppy though... Just budget for at least 3 bags.
