i bought a gold coloured one (can't remember the name) last saturday and i'm just waiting for the right day to take it (to avoid a bad trip) and it's been a week that i left it in the little plastic baggie.. it looks fine, i just don't want to take a chance coz i'm not so expirienced with shrooms.. !! so can i still eat it, or do i have to take it the day i buy it!?

How much is too much? It was my first time the other day and i consumed about a gram of shroomz. 90 mins later it barely hit so i blazed about 4 grams but it was an intense high not normal weed so im wondering if u take a low dosage of shroomz and add chron if chron becomes 10x? or if it was just mind over game?

If possible, i'd like to help by contibuting to the "negative reprocussions" of contamination. Let me know how I can help.

Anno,
I don't know if you saw brass's thread in the Mush Cult or not...
he is a microbiologist and his personal field of experience is in bacteria.

Funky smelling Jars??
Quote:
creamcorn said: smell alone is not a contaminate but rather a lingering left-over byproduct. they certainly should be clean by now and would probably work out, but who wants stinky trays around?
an old trick my mom used to use to clean out plastic water bottles that had that mildewey scent was to mix a few spoonfuls of cream of tartar in hot water, let sit for a while, and rinse. used to take care of those. things like vinegar (half vinegar & half water), or water & baking soda also can clean/absorb the odors

CureCat said: Bleach & hot water seems to work if you let it sit for a day. I agree, this may not be directly related to contams, but rather, the result of. A lot of people save jars, so this would be a good addition to the board rules/stickies/faq.

hi this is my first post, and i am fairly new to the forum and cultivation in general.
anyway i had two basic questions.
first: i inoculated my first batch of quart jars a month ago. it took awhile about a week before i had any mycellium; about day 8 i got my first few blotches and they grew quickly for the next two weeks. They stopped growing at about 80% and i noticed alot of piss colored saturation i the jar (what i now know to be wet-spot bacteria). I decided to pull the jars and birth the mycellium. It was four jars, seperated into 4 seperate tupperware containers to grow. Two of the containers have done nothing yet and the other two have regroup and started to grow quickly taking on about 75% of the substrate with some small pins. Now, since I know the "saturation" to be wet spot bacteria, should i just abort the operation? should i put in a controlled environment away from other grows? or continue on and see what happens?
second question: did my second inoculation about a week ago. six jars this time, and all are 80% or more. One of these - at about 98% - just has a tiny blue-green spot about the size of a pin head at the very bottom. Toss? wait? what about a partial birth( taking the top 50%)? such a shame this just came on within the last 24 hours. thanks!

that piss colored stuff could have just been what we call "mycelium piss". if you birthed the mycelium before it had colonized all of the substrate, your taking a big risk of contamination to the uncolonized substrate.
for the second question...how big of a spot? are you sure it's not bruising? mycelium will bruise. but it does sound like green mold to me. id say wait it out and see what happens. keep it in the jar though.

is their anyway to discern between piss and wet spot bacteria?
it is just a little tiny blue/green spot, about the size of a matchstick head. but i did look around some more and find another one about the same size. i read if i'm seeing it on the outside it's more then likely to be festering on the inside, so this one seems to be headed to the dumpster.

does it smell at all? a foul smell would be a dead give away. can you take pictures?
btw, it's not actually piss, it's antibiotics...most just call it piss.
