I think my anti-depressant made my hair start to fall out

I've been using wellbutrin for the past four months. During the past month or so I have noticed my hair seemed different somehow. In the past week I realized the difference was that it was starting to thin out rapidly. I always have had thick hair and there is no hair loss at all in my family. In only a couple of weeks something has made me lose a lot of my hair.
I'm almost positive it's the wellbutrin. The manufacturers make it sound like a very rare side effect but if you google it there are many people reporting this problem. I've been having regular blood work done the past few months already and everything has come back normal, no diabetes or thyroid problems.
I've stopped the drug and I'm wondering if my hair will return completely to normal or if I may have some permanent loss. Anyone who knows anything about this please respond.

Chronic drug use has serious side effects. Just because a doctor gave it too you doesn't mean it is safe.

How is your post in any way an attempt to help with this issue? Save the self righteousness.

First off fuck you moronicus for thinking this situation is funny. I'm on depakote right now and am experiencing something similar to what you describe. From what I hear as soon as you get off the meds your hair will naturally grow back over time.

If you are taking anti depressants, and so have stress, it might be manifesting in alopecia which I agree is alarming; I've had this affect me.. If you are losing hair in clumps and notice right after showering and brushing your hair, more than usual amounts on the brush, I would be inclined to think this...

Really...it would be no help to get off drugs that are killing you? I am not being self righteous just telling you to quit killing yourself....or go ahead and be a moron...take more of that shit and go bald or whatever....lol.

Yeah... at least you can see yourself going bald. Who knows what else it'd doing to you that you don't see? Wellbutrin made me twitchy in my sleep. My wife said I'd kick her sometimes and was always jerking myself awake. But if you decide to stop it, don't do it suddenly. Taper off gradually with the help of a new doctor. (There's no way your current doctor will ever agree to it.)

Maybe you missed the first post of the thread where I said I was no longer taking the drug. Or maybe you did see it but felt the need to interject your opinion on anti-depressant use.
Try to have more of an open mind. Once someone is posting an issue in this forum I feel it is a reasonable assumption that they have already realized the necessity for change in their situation. Any comments presented by other people should serve to share personal experience with the OP or offer advice on where to proceed from that point forward. Attempting to reinforce guilt over something that cannot be changed does not benefit anyone.
The philosophy and OTD forums are more appropriate for sharing personal beliefs if that is your desire.
