Shrooms got wet...

Hello,
I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me out... I just went on a camping trip and before hand ground up a decent amount of shrooms I had just purchased into a fine powder and put them in what I thought was a water-tight container. I just got back and went to get the remainder and found that they had somehow gotten wet and a good portion of the ground up shrooms are black and very moist, almost dirt-like. I know they were completely dry yesterday and any moisture must have gotten in within the last 24 hours. I separated out the dry normal looking powder and put it in a zip lock bag with a silica gel pack and then placed a silica gel pack in with the very moist bit. Is there any chance the moist bit will dry out or still be good? Or would it be good if I took it immediately? Also if the moist stuff is bad is there a chance it has contaminated the dry looking remainder? Thanks for any and all help!

my guess is that they weren't fully dried when you stored them.
soemtimes mushies can seem dry but actually still be retaining enough moisture to re-hydrate themselves
you could also try wrapping them up in paper towel, taping the corners shut, and placing that in front of a fan blowing on HI for as any many hours as necesarry.
drying with silica gel might also work, but if they already started to rot then i wouldn't eat them anyways, but thats just me
if theyre turning black and mushy then my guess is they started to rot.
i could be wrong though.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Since they had already been ground to a fine powder I didn't know if the blackness was necessarily an indication of rotting or just moisture...

do they smell okay?
if they don't smell like mushrooms, and have any sort of foreign nasty smell to them, then then its definately not worth the risk to eat em.

They smell fine to me... just like shrooms, I've just never seen them wet after grinding up, so I'm not sure if the blackness is normal or not.
