Vantage points of perception
    #1087060 - 11/26/02 10:11 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Is there such a thing as good and bad, or is that determined by popular opinion?

Is there such a thing as real and unreal, or is that determined by popular perception?

Do consequences dictate our course of action? If so, would you theoretically kill someone if there was never any consequences for it?

If you and 2 of your friends were out in the forest and they both exlaimed that they just had an encounter with an extra-terrestrial being, but you had no memory of it, would that make their claims un-true?

We live on a plane of reality that we are currently sharing, in which we all agree that certain things are the way they are. And when somebody disagrees with that and disagrees with it with deep faith, we characterize that as psychotic.

Is everything just a vantage point of perception, viewing and sensing the same Thing? And when many people are looking from the same vantage point we call that "true".

Mark Twain once said something very thoughtful. He said, "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect."

In a world of constant change and infinite realities, or rather infinite perceptions of the same Reality, it is naive and sometimes dangerous to believe you know any sort of truth. Do not close yourself off to the possibility that someone else's reality holds any less truth than your own. It all holds the same Truth, from the Universe's point of view.

Just because the majority of the people in this forum think aliens exist doesn't mean that they DO exist.

Mr. Twain said "pause and reflect", not "discard consensus and adopt the fantastical."

But then again, most aliens doubt the existence of humans...

"someone else's reality"

There is but one reality, many perceptions.
