More questions
    #1084294 - 11/25/02 12:18 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

Hey guys I have a couple more questions.
First is it a bad idea to look at my myco-bag every day, will this slow growth even though I don't think there is any growth yet?

I injected 2-3cc on Nov 8,it has been 18 days today and I still don't think there is any growth?
The strain is mazatapec from the spore works. Also about 3-4 days ago I injected 1-2cc more into the bag hoping that maybe just maybe it might go a little quicker!
The bag is in a box next to a radiator so it stays good and warm.
I have read that mazatapec is a slower strain to work with,is this true?
I have been mostly checking on it once a day to see if there are any signs of growth but I think I will leave it there without looking at it for a while and see what hapends.
Thanks for any info!

Also the mazatapec syringe from the spore works I got looked just like clear water,I coulden't see any spores in the water and I did shake it up before injecting.
Could it be that the syringe diden't have enough spores or somthing?
Thanks again!

I hear this alot about Myco bags. I've never used one my self. Hit up the search function, I'm sure I've read about this before. Also, it's a bad idea to check any colonizing container every day.

There should be plenty of viable spores in the clear water as they are microscopic so I wouldn't worry about that. As far as myco bags though I can't help there as I've never used one and quite often hear of bad reports about them..

Thanks guys.
Before I got the myco-bag I read mostly good reports and read lots of grow-logs about myco-bags and most people had great success it seemed like, and from what it sounds like if it doesne't work then spore works replaces them I think.
I don't know maybe I will see growth next time I check it out.
I should have got a realy fast colonizing strain and then it would have been better I think.I read only one grow log where someone used a myco-bag and mazatapec and he did get mushrooms but it took like 2-3 months from what it sounded like.
Thanks again!

hey whats up? i have used the myco-bag method, it is not the best method because i find that it takes too long, but i am using it right now. i was growing treasure coast and i found it took about 2 months to colonize. i checked up on it every few weeks, but i dont think it is such a good idea to check on it everyday. i dont kno much bout that strain...but i am guessing that wit most strains, it is still gonna take awhile. i am gonna start today, nov. 25...and i dont expect to see any pop up until about feb. if i get lucky, it may happen before that!

when i had the treasure coast going, i'd say i got like a quarter dried from each bag....they turned out really nice, of course other methods are waayy better, but i dont have the space as of right now. bags are ok for small amounts and stuff, and if u are sterile and clean with them they should turn out good. u're just gonna have to wait like 2 months or so...once its colonized, they will start growing fast!

If you check on it everyday it will seem like forever ofr it to colonize, a week will seem like a month. Check on it every two or so weeks and don't think about it. Just try to forget about them...

Not to dissapoint or anything, but I've had horrible luck with "Myco-Bags". If anything happens, SporeWorks will give you a refund. They seem to be very reputable. I'm now trying my first PF-Tek grow. No more Myco-Bags.

After 18 days, PF jars would be about 90%+ colonized. Sounds like something ain't right. The incubation method seems a little imprecise. Did yoe ever check the temp with a thermometer? You may have baked the spores.

Thanks for the info guys.
I don't think I baked the spores though because the bag never could have been more then 85-90 at the max but most of the time probably like 75-80 degress.
Another thing since all of you recomend that I not look at it for a while hen I guess I will wait a it and look at it.I guess it would be best to just forget about it and then one day when I see it again maybe I will see some growth when I look next time, heck who knows there could even be pins or even small mushrooms for all I know!
I would defently like to get some shrooms out of this bag though!
Thanks

Do you actually have a thermometer in there?

Are you sure you haven`t dried out the substrate by leaving it next to such a direct heat source??
Rather build an incubator.

DERRAYLD brings across a good point.... Maybe the direct heat did dry up the substrate?

Again the substrate is not dry it is moist.I can see water drops inside the bag, there small but I can tell just by looking at the bag that it is not dried out!If it was anything it could be too moist!
Is it bad if the substrate gets that moist,I am not saying my myco-bag is I just want to know incase.
I shouls have either bought another strain to start with other then mazatapec,I heard that these are even harder to fruit!
Hell I don't realy care about shrooms a little less potent,I should have got b+ or somthing realy fast but the reason I chose mazatapec is because almost everyone said that they love this starin and it has great spirtual trips and I like spirtual stuff!
Thanks guys!
