i know this is stupid...but how easy is it to get contams when making spore prints?

To answer your question, it all depends upon how clean you where in preparing the print itself. Did you use a clean printing surface? Did you cover the print while printing, if so did you clean the container used as a cover? Did you cut the stipe with clean scissors, did you handle the cap with clean hands? There are many, many variables to account for.

quite easy.

take some alu foil and cut it into square pieces. put them in a pan and ooopla! into the oven. Bake them for some time. Leave them there. When cooled, put the caps on each alu foil and put a glass on top of each. Leave them inside the oven [which is cool].

In my experience it's quite hard to make a non-sterile print.

well, on my first crop, i was of NO need to make any prints, but i said, hey lets do it. I did it stoned, without thinkin. The result was a contaminated spore print.

Imho, STERILITY is the issue EVERYWHERE in mushroom cultivation.

I cut square tinfoil pieces and give them a good wiping down with rubbing alcohol.
That`s it.

i mainly fucked it up when doing 30cc syringes. I really don't remember before that.

Very easy.

I make my prints in a glove box onto laminted index cards that have been wiped with alcohol. It's a bit of overkill but my prints are clean.  :smile:

I think one of the biggest mistakes is that people get wet prints, then fold them up before letting them dry.

Wet prints are bad. Mmkay?
