 KSSS filled Mini Mono tub Doc T style. With classic Monotub side by side comparison Update 8/20

So on 7/7 I inoculated some rye with a MS KSSS print. The jars were colonized fully on 7/21. The first tub which is a classic style of monotub was made on 7/23. It has 2 and 1/4 qts to 7 quarts sub of ckn poo/coir/compost/coffee.
Tub 1
 
The second Tub was done per Doc T's mini mono tub shown with Oakridge.

1/4 inch holes every two inches all sides and the top.
Same 2 and 1/4 qts to 7 qts sub. This one was made on 7/26.
Tub 2
    
Threw in a pic of my closet. It use to be a fruiting chamber but Now i stack monotubs in it. The tubs I use a re 11 gal monoflo from costco. 3 for $24. Tub 2 was put in 2 trash bags. One slide on from both ends. I opened it up every 3-4 days. I hadn't checked them in over a week this time and I notice that both are starting to fruit a bit. No exposure to light by the way. Just so people know light is not needed to pin put will help your pin set.
Anyways so I am starting fruiting conditions on both at the same time so I decide to start a comparison thread with some pics. Will keep updated.

If you take the tape off that one hole and put polyfil, you can mist without removing the lid.
Looks good, I'll be excited to see pins!

If you have holes near the top that aren't shown in the pics, they work even better.
That tub is wider than the one I used, I'll be curious to see how the center pins. The block has more surface area for more humidity, but less relative air exchange so less FAE. Tradeoff.

Here is what they look like a week later. Both tubs have several knots on top and some pins on the side.
Tub one, the mono-tub also has several pins on top. Not that side pins bother me because they don't. I just don't want them to be the only things that form in my tubs.
Tub 1
 
Here is Tub 2, the Mini-Tub. No pins on top, lots of knots though, and more pins on the side then Tub 1.
Tub 2
 
I have been misting 4-5 times a day. Over night one day both tubs got a little dry on top. Tub 2 a little more then tub 1. I make sure to mist well right before bed now. FAE can not be my problem. My air conditioner is running during the day in the room and I have a fan on low facing away from the tubs as to suck air towards them vs. blow it on them. I don't have anything to test my RH, but during these months it is around 60-80 in the air itself. I can't help think that i am having RH problems inside my tubs. A hydrometer is a main priority now.
The light they get is natural light from a window plus a 4700k 20w fluorescent. I plan on switching it out for a 6500k as soon as I can. Same time as the hydrometer.
I spawned 2 more tubs last night with the same KSSS. 1 mono-tub and 1 Mini again. This time the sub is coir/steer manure/verm. And I upped the size of my sub to 4qts spawn to 12qts sub. for 16 qts vs. 9. I'll post pic when these as these come along also.

too much FAE will dry out your subs overnight....I have the same setup (a/c with fan in opposite direction) and I have to turn the fan off at night cuz it dries out the surface too much.
not saying your doing something wrong just something to keep an eye out for.

I have to have A/C otherwise it get in the upper eighty's. No way around it. Need to get a humidifier I guess.

upper 80's isnt much of problem during fruitng. cubensis is tropical.
a/c does reduce your ambient humidity as its a condensor, every notice a/c units dripping water? thts water from the air.
I wouldnt think it be much of a problem with a mono though

I started upping the misting to about 8-10 times a day. The reason I went with more sub on the second batch was hoping to make it easier for water retention. With less misting.

That's 30C. May not be a problem for the mushrooms, but not ideal for people.
Casing layer may be appropriate to your situation. Not on this batch, but try it next time maybe?

keep the a/c where your comfortable and just pack your poly tighter if your loosing humidity. a mono is self contained and nothing ambient should effect it(besides temps/lights). you shouldnt have to mist or fan if your poly or what ever filter your using is adjusted correctly.

you dont need a casing layer, i think its a waste of your time. If you want to learn how a casing can contam ur bulk substrate for the first time goo for it by all means... 
bulk doesnt need a casing layer.
by bulk i mean bulk. If your doing a shoebox sized tub then case it.... thats less than 1 lb of substrate. You go above 1 lb... your sub should hold enough mositure for atleast 2 solid flushes... you dont need more than that anyways...

is anyone having to tape holes?
theyre gonna look SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pretty if they fruit well.

Don't tape- mist more! FAE is crucial, if you tape up holes you are just preventing that.
