B+ on alder for outdoor trial in PNW

I want to spawn some B+ on alder for an experimental outdoor bed in the southern PNW.I have ready acess to alder chips but wonder if another substrate might be better for spawning and then transfering to alder for inoculating beds.I am leaning to birdseed/vermiculite.But also am consideringadding a small amount of ground birdseed to my alder chips.Any comments or advice? you would be better off getting azures for that type of project as they are a woodloving species. B+ is just Ps. cubensis which does much better on straw/dung substrate. You could use the alder chips as mulch though. I would recommend using birdseed and/or rye for a spawning medium. good luck ps. are you whiterasta from OG? Those pics look awfully familiar.

OG= Overgrow.. well if you want the B+ to fruit then I would certainly recommend getting a lot of grain spawn prepped and then just innoculating a large amount of dung/straw ( many people like a 30/70 ratio) and just covering that with the alder chips (not too deep). Water occassionally and you should get some nice flushes throughout the summer. peace

I agree with alkaloids, a dung/straw combo would be a better spawn for an outdoor bed for cubensis.

I have goat and grass hay barn cleanings I can compost and yes I am the same ole arse as on overgrow I am looking for year round wood lovers so I have cyans and azures going ,too frosty this yr though for them so I wanted a wood eater(I have unlimited alder chips)for the warmer months.I thought if I selectivly spawned B+ with alder I might end up with an alder eating B+ for Oregon. But as I am more interested in results(Mushrooms STOP atrial fibrillation!)I will use the dung and grass and only mulch with alder.Thanx to all WR

Try what I`ve been using with some grows. I have a mix of dung/straw/saw dust wedges. So far the mix has been colonising effortlessly.

ever heard of chipboard?? It is a board of wood made of compressed wood shavings. Used just like any other wood except it is for indoors and doesn`t last as long but is very strong, it also disintigrates when exposed to water. Well the dung I`ve been getting comes premixed with the straw and compressed wood pieces. Once you pastuerise it and break it up it evenly distributes throughout the substrate making a even mix of straw and wood with the dung being the primary constinuent. I naturally also get jst dung as well. But this stuff seemed very usefull because I don`t need to add ingredients to get my desired substrate. I alsohave a sac of the same mixture excluding the wood. So I never really need to add anything. I do find I add a couple hand fulls of straw, all the straw I get is also precut and bagged for me
