I was wondering if a hosehold dehumidifier that takes moisture from the air would work to dry insted of dessicant. It does not use heat.If anyone has tried this or has any info it would be appreciated.

Coupled with some moving air the dehumidifier should work fine, but to make it more effective you would want to have it set up so that the water being pulled out of the air was constantly removed from the space where you are drying. So having the run-off go directly to a drain would be good.

before I forget you don't need to worry about heat during drying that much. As long as you keep the temps below 105-110 Fahrenheit there shouldn't be any noticeable difference in potency. Food dehydrators work wonderfully and you can get your "stuff" cracker dry very fast.
