YOU FUCKERS ARE MISSING THE POINT
if you check your balance every day, and for several days the bank tells you you have a shitload more than you actually do, then you spend a TINY amount and get fucked...I'm sorry, the balance check is there for a reason, so that you can keep track of your money (and keep in mind I said I gave it several days for processing to go through)
credited money on an overdraft? a big favor? so for 25 fucking cents you should have to pay them 20 dollars, and for 3 25cent purchases you owe $60-$80, when they couldn't keep up to date on your balance in the first place?

I keep my cash stashed yo. No greasy usurer will get their filthy hands on it again. Nor will I ever pay 200 for a burrito because my bank falsely informed me that I had 10 more dollars then I really had. Fuck that noise.

i have worked since i was 15 and have had a bank acount, and checking account since then. i've never had an overdraft fee or any fee because im not a fucking idiot with money. grow the fuck up. banks provide a service that makes it convieniet to pay bills on time and transfer funds. you'll learn this when you grow the fuck up.

If you don't have an account that allows you to overdraft, and you do, you pay a fee. As far as the rates go, read your contracts before you sign them, they will be stated.
I don't know what kind of bank you use but most these days (unless your transferring thousands of dollars) shouldn't take more than a few minutes to update your account, and online banking gives you no excuse to not know how much is in your account at any moment. If your bank is giving you inaccurate statements it sounds like their providing a shitty service to you and you should switch, you do have options.
Read your contracts before you sign them, and then work within those boundaries or don't sign them at all.

banks have also been caught post/pre dating withdrawals so as to maximize penalties. there are times when one is correct in one's book keeping, yet still end up overdraft.

Yeah banks are totally crooked. They will all go down one day.
The only reason I have a checking account is to deposit my paycheck and then I withdraw it all immediately in cash.
Keep a log of each of your expenses so you avoid getting caught in their trap. You've gotta be on top of your own balance. They won't help you.

Ya'll should try credit union.
I used to bank with Chase and they fucked me over on the regular.
Switched to a local credit union a few years back and not a strange charge yet.

wrong, my bank refunds all ATM fees...and if you got a charge for excessive withdrawls, it was from a savings account, and that is a federal policy passed a few years ago that only allows 3 withdrawals a month from an account with the amount of interest a savings gets (even if it is shitte)
