birthing a casing.

I need some advice, please. I?ve read and re-read all the FAQs, and even bought the cultivators? bible, but to no avail. I need close-up pictures!

It?s my first casing, so I?m keen to get the transition to pinset right. Exactly when do I put the semi-colonised casing into the terrarium, for the cold /light /humidity /fresh air to do their magic? I read about ?mycelium in the valleys?, about ?watering the casing up to its optimum moisture? and about the dangers of overlay, but I still don?t know what it should look like. Is the pic on Stamets? p. 121 what I?m after? Or the one on p. 137 ? The first is of compost, and the second is an unhelpful side view. Mine is 50/50+ and it looks like a few snowflakes.

Unfortunately I cannot upload a picture of my casing for comments, so some links to pictures would be gratefully appreciated. I?ve probably been sitting in my mercury bath for too long, and missed my moment.
