i tried straight thistle/ niger seed twice. both were too moist & contamed. they seem to have difficulty absorbing water. perhaps a proonged soaking might help.

Thats the one thing that I had trouble with, it seemed like no matter how much shaking the jar I did, I always ended up with a 1/2 inch to an inch of sitting water, which eventually turned into a hardened mass of thistle...this was with qt jars...cause I know you like to play big :wink:.
