Is there an origin for this rumor, or is it just a long running joke on the shroomery?

I think it would be retarded if it were actually true, but as far as I can tell I haven't seen people I know that use shrooms turn gay .

in the Timothy Leary bio I am reading it talks about how Tim thought LSD could be a cure for gay people and it worked with one famous dude who said he first appreciated the beauty of a woman on LSD, but for  Richard Alpert he still remained h0m0.

but anyway just wondering if anyone thinks psychedelics can have an effect on sexual orientation..........................

for what it's worth I think the visuals you can get on mushrooms and lsd are kind of feminine if anything but I haven't seen them make anyone I know ghey , as far as I can tell :shrug:

i think it can make you more open and secure with your sexuality, i don't think it will make you gay. it's a shroomery joke.

so Dr. Leary is saying teh gheys is a disease that can be cured? I'm really not down with gays cuz it grosses me out but IMO that's wrong.

I think Timothy refers to homosexuality as something that happens because of conditioning and LSD can uncondition you back to your natural self- which is to like women.

but i think studies nowdays prove timothy wrong, and like I said he ignores the fact that LSD didn't change Richard Alpert. 

i hold the same view on homosexuality as you.  not my thing and I don't desire to sleep with men :puke:-but if someone is gay- let them be.  everyone should have the freedom to be themselves, as long as that doesn't mean murdering innocent people :kingcrankey:

Maybe if you were a repressed homosexual, the mushrooms could make it difficult for you to deny your true orientation any longer.  I don't think a "completely" straight dude is gonna start blowing guys after a few trips though (At least from my personal experience:)  If they did cause some gay-ness, however, they would be a useful tool in every man's quest to get two chicks to double up on him.  So maybe this needs more research.

This is NOT a joke or a rumor.

Mushrooms can unlock pre-existing mental issues. Being gay is a mental issue as they have proved gay MEN have something wrong with their brain.

That being said, I believe shrooms could make you gay, but I would also like to think you figured that out b4 shrooms :thumbup:

Well, despite there being "something wrong" with my brain according to "them", I'm still somehow able to form coherent, if somewhat atypical, sentences :rolleyes:.

From a previous post of mine, the following touches upon the topic of the psychedelic mindstates and their connection with sexuality and attraction.  Just a working program through observance of course.  Take from it what you will.

" Humans are naturally bisexual.  Sexuality and attraction remain largely distinct from each other until puberty leaving room for much programming to take place.  Psychedelics can help one become aware of programming which has helped one sway to one preference or the other.  One does not have to alter this programming to become more open to "the other side" though(personally, I am quite happy remaining gay whilst recognizing my sexual and attractive tendencies to the other gender without the need to enact upon them).  However, it is more common to simply become cognizant to repressed feelings of sexuality AND attraction.  As stated before, sexuality and attraction are mostly distinct prior to puberty.  In the psychedelic mindstate, confusion can occur between the two leading one to attribute thoughts of attraction to sexuality.  This is similar to the association between sexuality and domination/submission; entirely separate, yet often socialistically interconnected."

That was a typo, not what I meant to say.

As far as your brain difference goes, it has nothing to do with forming sentences. The part of your brain which is messed up is the part which allows you to find females attractive which is believed to be because of low testosterone levels in the womb.

As far as whatever else you were saying, makes no sense, because I was never once in my life attracted to boys or even come close. So being born bisexual is complete bullshit considering I had my first major crush my first day of grade school.
