Maitake mycelium

Hello, I was so inspired by the strength of this maitake mycelium growth that I had to share.
The jar is rye grass seed, coffee and gypsum. Notice the mycelium has colonized the glass.
This bag is comprised of mostly seagrape leaves. I was surprised at the rate of growth.
Inoculation was six days ago with LC. The bag received about 5ml. while the jar took three. -sun

"Notice the mycelium has colonized the glass."
No way did the mycelium "colonize" the glass...

I think he just means against it.
THis happens to spawn bottles I have not used in a timely way, but not six days after inoc.
I'll give LC a try, for the hell of it. I have those stirrers, and I've tried to resist. I'm hoping to LC COffee with Pinks.
RR forgive me!

Wow, 6 days ago?? My maitake myc also rocks, It actually happened something very curious... As I was PCing some jars I noticed that I forgot to put inside the PC some ruined small size test jars with 40% contamination and what it seemed to be no maitake myc.
Realizing the mistake I made I proceeded to put the tiny jars on top of the PC just to see if this would kill the myc (don't do this, some of the jars slided off the PC and shattered) then I waited for some days to check if the myc was dead for sure and surprise surprise, the fucking maitake mycelium started to grow like crazy, I now have around 13 jars. plus four master jars.
I wish I knew what the hell triggered the myc to grow like this, I cannot grasp it considering the jar definitely was at a very high temp. Of course the myc devoured the dead or alive trich.
Thought I'd share this with ya fellas.
How are the jars doing BTW?

I wonder what you're growing now ? It might be Maitake. Keep us up to date.
I've never heard of any mushroom beating (alive) trich. Could eat dead, I suppose.
THanks for sharing.

Well, it definitely smells like mushroom myc, and the master jars are all full and covered, the myc is searching a way out through the lid 'crawling' on the glass at almost 2 inches above the rye grain.
There's some metabolites, no doubt about it. But other than that idk.
I guess there's only one way to see if it's maitake for me; spawn it which I'm in the process of doing.
J_sun's myc looks so strong, I'm wondering how he'll spawn it.
I'll definitely use coffee next time.

oysters can beat trich off. i had a bag that went way south with the mean green pictured below

the mean green definitely put a whooping on the oysters, but you can see in the picture where it is starting to fight back with the rhizomes
these pictures were taking a LONG time ago but this next picture appears to be that very same corner and you can see the oysters are indeed laying the smack down

and here's another picture of the same bag but its hard for me to tell what corner it is

if memory serves me right the oysters did overrun everything, but eventually it just ran out of nutrients or gave up w/e and the mean green took over again.

I'm not sure what you're showing is trich, I have been known to think of anything green as trich. Trich is the "Forest Green Mold".
What you have is more Soap Green. My guess is penicillium. (?)
Oysters can beat a lot of things. They're my heroes. I'm still looking for the one that can beat trich.
Good growing,
Jef

lol penicillium is a bluegreen mold, that is clearly not blue green. its a muddy dark green.
