Gymnopilus have gills, not pores. you've got something else.

I've been looking for Gyms here in Ohio for the last month or so.

Also narrow your searches to habitats when they are knows to grow.
Certain mushroom species grow most abundantly under certain trees and in certain climates, right. So finding out where they like to grow and starting your search there might help.

I am just guessing of coarse for I am new to this whole shroom hunting thing and am yet to find an active species.

Also, I think rust color on a spore print is no good.
