Opening a Bank Account Without a SSN

I have no idea if this actually works. It's just something I came across on the nets and wanted to pass along. I'm going to read all the relevant codes, but I won't utilize it for a while, so let me know if one of you give it a shot.
Quote:
I recently tried to open a bank account with my local bank , and when they asked for a SSN, I informed them that I didn't have one. They flatly refused and said that without a SSN that they absolutely could NOT open an account of any kind. I then proceeded thus to convince them that they were in the wrong: 1) I informed them that I had terminated my SSN legally in accordance with 20 CFR 3 A7 404.1905 and 2) I informed them that the bank could not be held legally responsible by anyone for failing to obtain a SSN from me pursuant to 31 CFR 103.34(a)(1) and 3) I informed them that under the Internal Revenue Code Section 6041, that they were not even required to provide any taxpayer identification numbers on the Form 1099 that they file with the IRS at the end of the year, and 4) I informed them that pursuant to 26 CFR 301.6109-1(c) that they were under no legal obligation to obtain a SSN from me, and 5) I informed them that 42 USC 408 makes it a FELONY to use threat, duress, or coercion to try to force a person by fear or deceit to provide his SSN in an unlawful manner. After a brief meeting with the banks controller and legal counsel, I received a phone call stating that I would be allowed to open a checking account. Please pass this information along to your readers, in hopes that it may help someone else who may find themselves in this situation.

Nevermind, this is utter bullshit. Maybe you can fool some moronic bank manager with it though.
This is the text of the first code:
Quote:
[Code of Federal Regulations] [Title 20, Volume 2] [Revised as of April 1, 2009] From the U.S. Government Printing Office via GPO Access [CITE: 20CFR404.1905]
[Page 630] TITLE 20--EMPLOYEES' BENEFITS CHAPTER III--SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION PART 404_FEDERAL OLD-AGE, SURVIVORS AND DISABILITY INSURANCE (1950 )-- Subpart T_Totalization Agreements Sec. 404.1905 Termination of agreements.
Each agreement shall contain provisions for its possible termination. If an agreement is terminated, entitlement to benefits and coverage acquired by an individual before termination shall be retained. The agreement shall provide for notification of termination to the other party and the effective date of termination.
It's about the cancellation of "totalization agreements, which is SSI paid through workers in foreign countries." So ya, as far as I can tell, it's not possible to cancel your SSN.
I'd file this under the same genre as the people who don't think that you have to have a license plate on your car, a belief I can only accredit to the fact that some people just never really learned to read. Sorry for wasting anybody's time.

Can't use banks? Find a grandma or some other older person who can hold on to the cash under floorboards or in a locked safe.
Better yet, be a pirate. Assuming you don't get pulled over on the voyage and have the government charge your money with all sort of crimes and separate the two of you (yes, they literally charge THE MONEY); dig a big hole, dump loot, cover convincingly, mark spot with X on a map somewhere, or even better in your head and go along your way.

Better yet, put it into gold and stash it. No worries about mold or bugs getting it and it will probably go up in value.

Ya, and when we abolish money and start exploring space, it'll still be useful for circuitry.

And it's gone up 20% since 1980. You don't buy gold AFTER a recession hits.

Look at the 1980 oil crisis and look what happened to the price afterward. Just stating the obvious for ya. Only people who already own gold and are trying to trump it up right now.
It's a good hedge, that's about it.

You could probably convince some bank manager to open an account for you without an SSN, although it would be really hard. But what's the point? They do require ID, and your DL and passport or State ID cards is linked to your SSN anyway!
You cannot cancel your SSN, but you can rescind it, depending on the reason. But then you can't be employed, so you'll have to have some other source of money. Also you can't draw SS when you get old.
You're right that you can't drive a car without license plates, although if you could prove that you own the car, you could legally do it. Problem is you can't prove you own the car and even if you could, it's not practical because cops would pull you over and probably arrest you daily.
Also your gold price chart is only in nominal value. It does not account for inflation, a fatal mistake. Although, that is not to say that I don't agree with your chart.
