Is my terrarium too big???
    #1080183 - 11/23/02 10:07 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

Im using a fish tank as my terrarium that I got from a friend. It measures 5 ft x 1 ft x 2 ft. Is that too big to keep a good relative humidity with just perlite? If not, what other ways are there other than hand misting?

I also put a fan in it to move moisture around and all the walls of the terrarium including the top are covered fine water droplets. Does that mean the humidity is good for casings/cakes?

As long as u put enough perlite in the terrarium it will be sufficent. Put two inches of wet perlite and one inch on water on the bottom that is what I use and it works fine.

Peace

As long as you can maintain a fairly clean enviro, the proper light, rh & temps, a 40 foot semi trailer -- or a 10,000,000 cubic foot warehouse will work. 6T
